An iPhone user nearly put an end to his relationship, thanks to Apple’s latest updates.

You’d think Apple updates in iOS 18 are supposed to make life simpler and save our thumbs from endless typing. But sometimes, even though they're trying to help, they end up doing the exact opposite.

One Reddit user, going by the name cjps1234, shared how using his iPhone to ask Siri for a little help turned into a relationship blunder.

Sharing a screenshot on the popular internet forum, the user asked Siri to send their girlfriend a sweet message. He requested: "tell my girlfriend that i love her" but the results were something else.

Instead, Siri somehow misinterpreted the command altogether, and actually sent the message 'I love her" instead of 'I love you' - Not what you want to be sending to your partner.

"Siri is way too dumb. I can’t even get it to call the right person," one user joked.

"Maybe Siri knows something you don't. Now that is some Apple Intelligence," added another.

Another Reddit user gave some brutally honest advice, saying: "Tell her yourself".

The OP initially thought that the feature they were using was Apple Intelligence, whilst people in the replies were quick to point out that it was just sent using Siri.

Apple’s so-called 'Intelligence' feature has been going viral for its blunders since it rolled out.

The tech giant introduced an AI-powered system to summarise texts and notifications like ChatGPT.

It's supposed to help users glance at the screen rather than read through a sea of alerts.

But most of the time it strips the alerts of any context and leaves you with an entirely blunt message.

According to The Atlantic, one Apple user's breakup message read: "No longer in relationship; wants belongings from the apartment" and even Ring alert messages are going viral for notifications like "Multiple people at your Front Yard."

Don't get me wrong, notification summaries can be incredibly handy when they work correctly. But in these early days of AI, they often lack human understanding and empathy - and sometimes completely miss the point.

Currently, Apple Intelligence’s notification summaries are only available on the iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16 series. So the feature is still in the testing phase, which hopefully means it will only get better.

Maybe double check what you're asking Siri to do especially if it's personal or someone else is watching.

Most of the time, if you want something done right, do it yourself.
