YouTuber undergoes intense journey to randomly generated co-ordinate where he makes fascinating discovery

Shame he didn't have the weather for it

One YouTuber has taken to the road, letting a random number generator decide his next adventure.

When it comes to planning a holiday, some of us will put hours into deciding where to go, meticulously mapping out a route and itinerary.

Others will leave it to chance, like YouTube creator Topo Traveler letting fate find his next video.

From venturing into America's most complex canyon to the country's most remote corners, his channel is full of treks across the USA as he uncovers some truly amazing sights.

For this travel adventure, Topo Traveler’s randomized coordinates landed on a remote spot near Utah's Book Cliffs.

Setting off in the pouring rain, he admitted his trip through Salt Lake City was a little rough, effectively driving through a whiteout.

Still, as he moved closer to his destination, he showed off the setup in his car and how he sleeps in the back.

This came in handy when driving through Price Canyon during some particularly snowy weather.

Finding the first unusual landmark, he explained how the San Rafael Reef was an impassable geological formation that couldn't be traversed until a road was built through it. Like a coral reef, these tilted layers of Navajo and Wingate Sandstone make for quite the imposing view.

He then came across a series of petroglyphs but kept their location a secret to prevent further vandalism. If drawn by the Ute Indians, they could've been carved as far back as somewhere between A.D. 1650 and 1850.

Topo Traveler also showed us some of the Capitol Reef National Park's Fremont petroglyphs that could date back as far as 300 A.D.

This wasn't the only fascinating discovery he made, though, also coming across a herd of elk. Saying he's regularly seen herds of deer, this is the first time he's come across so many elk.

Eventually making it to his random point, the YouTuber got there just as the snow started melting. After giving us a very quick tour, he decided it was time to get out of there before the snow melted.

It looks like he escaped at just the right time, saying that the melting water was causing some of the crossings to get pretty deep.

As well as finding one last wall of petroglyphs, he came across what looked like a very old cowboy bottle.

Ultimately, he realized that if he hadn't randomized, he never would've been given these coordinates and might've missed out on all these amazing sights.

Loving the video, one person cheered: "I thought this was gonna be some multiple location, and high octane type of video but I really enjoyed your chill energy and just the drive."

Another added: "Love your respect for safety, physical maps, and rock art! Seeing ancient human hand prints is so emotional to me."

A third concluded: "I love this idea here, but I think I love the style even more. Just very chill but still very fun to watch. No stupid cheesy royalty free music, no slick editing. Just a clear documentary account of what you got up to. Keep it up!”
