Following criticism of his appearance, MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, has taken to social media to explain a key aspect of his face that’s ‘out of his control’.
Even if you’ve never watched a YouTube video from MrBeast there’s a good chance you’ve regularly seen his face when scrolling through social media, and while his video concepts are often full of enthusiasm, some argue that you can’t say the same for the man himself.
He has revealed in past interviews quite how much of his life he spends working or traveling, getting little sleep in between and even punishing his body through extreme challenges.
However, one thing that people seem to consistently point out is the appearance of his eyes – especially when he smiles – as they claim that they don’t match the rest of his face.

People have said that his eyes ‘never smile’ while some have gone as far to claim that he’s ‘dead behind the eyes’, yet Donaldson has recently taken to social media to clarify why this might be the case in a reveal that has shocked many.

Responding to one such comment – which included a close-up of his eyes – MrBeast wrote on X:
“I love how the biggest criticism of me is about my eyes which are out of my control. I’m borderline blind in my right eye, the reason they look off is because I have to squint in my right eye to see better even with my contacts in. There is nothing I can do.”
You could rightfully argue that people should have been more considerable of criticising someone’s appearance without this statement, but it’s certainly the case after Donaldson revealed the true reasoning.
The person that MrBeast responded to provided their own reply, explaining:
“Well, I haven’t seen any of your videos so I can’t really comment on them but if it’s a vision thing then fair enough, sorry you’re blind man, that sucks.”
Many in the replies have called for them to delete their original post, accusing them of engagement baiting and imploring them to think about what they post online.
“How shameless do you have to be when you criticize someone’s appearance and you know they can’t do anything about it,” wrote one furious commenter, with another adding that they should “have some respect and delete the tweet.”
It’s certainly another reminder that you often never know the full truth behind everyone on the internet — even if they’re as big as MrBeast.
