MrBeast has taken a new viral dieting trick to the extreme by engaging in a two-week-long water fast, and the results he was met with at the end are far from what the YouTube megastar expected.

Every week it feels like there’s a new fad diet or weight loss trick to abide by, and that’s only accelerated with social media where trends are chewed up and spat out in record time.

While most of these don’t work for the vast majority of people, it’s still fascinating to see their effects in certain scenarios, especially when pushed to their limits.

Who better to look to for extremes that MrBeast though, real name Jimmy Donaldson, as the YouTube sensation experimented with a recent fad that sees you swap out food for an exclusively water-based fast.

As reported by LADbible, Donaldson passed over typical medical advice that typically limits these types of fasts to just a double of days at most, extending his trial with the extreme diet to two whole weeks to see what it could achieve.

He recounted his experience with the diet in an interview with Theo Von, and it didn’t exactly go exactly how he planned.

“I did a DEXA scan before I did my extended fast, where they measure the fat and muscle, I lost like six pounds of muscle, it was pretty depressing,” he explained.

While he did manage to lose 13 pounds (5.9 kilograms) of fat alongside that, it was far from worth it overall, and it even had a significantly negative impact on his day-to-day life.

Donaldson describes the experience as ‘intense’ – especially as he was filming constantly while on the diet – illustrating the strain it put on his body.

“Standing up was brutal, and walking around, because you have no energy,” MrBeast revealed.

“I never got that super human clarity, I was just f***ing tired all the time, I was too tired to have clarity.”

Additionally, he reveals that the complications continued even after the challenge ended, as the muscle didn’t immediately come back upon eating again, leading to a negative outcome overall.

The video that saw him undertake the challenge did have some disclaimers though, as he urged his viewers not to try this at home as he had constant medical supervision for the duration of the fast.

“Also for more context, I have Crohn’s disease (basically my gut has tons of inflammation) and I wanted to give it a break from food to see if that would reduce inflammation because Crohn’s sucks,” Donaldson revealed in a comment underneath the video.

“I learned a lot about how I can use fasting to reduce my inflammation and I’m glad I did this challenge,” he continued.
