Another content creator is grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons, as an Australian YouTuber is accused of stealing from graves in Japan's infamous suicide forest. The controversy has kicked off, with some saying he should be deported and others claiming he needs to be arrested.
There's been a particularly alarming run of content creators doing things for clicks, like Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov visiting the banned North Sentinel Island, Johnny Somali's antics in South Korea, and the infamous Vitaly Zdorovetskiy being arrested in the Philippines following another spate of incidents.
It seems that the YouTube community doesn't learn, as a young Australian man has been accused of stealing items from graves in Aokigahara.
As reported by Dexerto, Lochie Jones from Sydney has caused backlash over an August 2025 video titled, "Suicide Forest Japan Pt 2 Graveyard Flip".

In the video, he's seen approaching a grave adorned with gifts and flipping a coin on whether he should drink an unopened can of beer. Jones is heard saying, "A whole can of Kirin. Should I drink it?" He flips the coin, 'wins', and picks up the can.

While discussing the infamous forest, where Logan Paul caused similar controversy when he filmed an apparent suicide victim back in 2018, Jones drinks the beer and replaces it with a pack of Marlboro cigarettes.
Over on Reddit, one popular thread discussed whether he should be arrested, as someone said: "Immediate deportation and revoke his visa permanently. I don't want my tax money to be spent on his meal and clothing while in jail, I don't want resources (police, investigation time etc...) wasted for him."

Another added: "He's not gonna learn and he'll just do it in another country. A few years of prison + free work to cover his own prison cost would be nice instead."
A third said: "I think legally, broadcasting a crime or misdemeanor for "entertainment"/views/profit should be an aggravating factor. And people who commit above, and misrepresent their reason for visiting should be expelled."
The backlash was immediate, but Jones seems to be embracing his newfound fame as a TikTok account linked to him mocked the situation. He's since posted two baffling 'apology' videos to Instagram, talking about how Japan could have the highest population of 'superheroes' if it channeled its energy in the right direction, instead, saying it's moving to a hive mind mentality.

This has only stirred anger toward him more, and responding to Jones' 'apology', one person concluded: "What an amazing thing have you done while being given the opportunity and privilege to visit Japan, an amazing country!
"You served disrespect not only to the dead and their families but also to the entire people of Japan. You don't deserve forgiveness. I strongly hope that he will be arrested, deported, and never tread on the land of Japan again."
