President Donald Trump has shared a disturbing image online that has left people afraid of a potential ‘invasion’ of Canada.
This comes as the president continues to threaten to seize control of Greenland, claiming that the US needs the land for ‘national security, right now’.
In recent weeks, Trump has shared some suggestive statements about his wishes for Greenland on social media, with one post reading: “The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security. It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building. NATO should be leading the way for us to get it. IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
“Militarily, without the vast power of the United States, much of which I built during my first term, and am now bringing to a new and even higher level, NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent - Not even close! They know that, and so do I.

“NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES. Anything less than that is unacceptable. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT.”
Now, Trump has shared an AI-generated image to Truth Social which depicts him in the Oval Office appearing to conduct a meeting with world political figures including UK prime minister Keir Starmer and French president Emmanuel Macron.
Next to Trump is a map of North America where Canada and Greenland are covered with the American flag.

This has sparked concern from viewers, with many sharing their own reactions online.
On Instagram, one user wrote: “The President of the United States posted a photo and message tonight threatening to militarily invade Canada. This is unacceptable and has to be condemned by all.”
In response, another said: “As an American, I promise that you do not want this. It's an absolute disaster down here.”

And a third person added: “If anyone thinks that Canada would be one state is completely deluded. Trump would never give us that much power. Canada would be divided into multiple territories such as Puerto Rico with no citizenship or voting rights. Elbows up people!!!”
Earlier this week, a joint statement was released by the UK, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, which warned that Trump’s threats towards Greenland ‘undermines transatlantic relations’.
In the statement, it reads: “We stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Denmark and the people of Greenland. Building on the process begun last week, we stand ready to engage in a dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that we stand firmly behind.”
