Tyler Robinson faces charges for the murder of Charlie Kirk, with the 22-year-old due to stand trial after the right-wing commentator was shot dead at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Although early arrests came up short, it's said that Robinson's own father turned him in to the authorities. Others who were in a supposed group chat with Robinson have shared his 'confession' to killing Kirk.
A spokesperson for Utah Valley University confirmed that Robinson studied there for one semester in 2021, and as the media descends on his private life, more details are starting to emerge. Notably, it was Matt Robinson who is said to have spoken to a minister about his son's involvement, which led to the 33-hour manhunt coming to an end when Tyler Robinson was apprehended and arrested.
Now, Tyler's grandmother has spoken out about her confusion. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Debbie Robinson said her grandson was quiet and reserved, being someone who rarely spoke about politics.

As for where the Robinson family stands on the political spectrum, Debbie Robinson reiterated: "My son, his dad, is a Republican for Trump. [Tyler] is the shyest person.
"He has never, ever spoke politics to me at all. Most of my family members are Republican. I don't know any single one who’s a Democrat."
Robinson then admitted: "I'm just so confused."

Matt Robinson heads up a family-owned construction company, with Debbie Robinson saying her son hasn't returned her calls since Tyler was arrested.
In terms of her grandson's involvement, it seems Debbie isn't convinced that Tyler could've done it: "I don't think he ever shot a gun, to tell you the truth. He doesn't hunt, he's never liked anything like that. I know he doesn't own any guns.
"There's just no way he could have been that good of a shot."
Some outlets have reported on Tyler having mental health issues, but again, this is something his grandmother denies: "He's a wonderful child. There is no way that he could have done anything like that.

“I would cross my heart and promise that there was absolutely no way. He has never, ever gotten in trouble in his life. He's just a very shy, good kid."
Despite DNA evidence linking Robinson to the scene, his grandmother thinks it's a case of 'mistaken identity or something' as she concluded: "There's no way he could be violent. There's absolutely no way that he did that."
Debbie Robinson says she'd never even heard of Kirk, although Utah's Governor Spencer Cox is adamant it could've been politically motivated. Cox claims that Robinson mentioned Kirk's American Comeback Tour coming to UVU, as well as him apparently disagreeing with the commentator's views. According to Cox, Robinson said that 'Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate'.
The investigation into Charlie Kirk's murder continues, while officials have stated that Tyler Robinson could face the death penalty if he's found guilty.
