The video appeared to have come from CCTV footage which shows the suspected shooter racing across the rooftop of a building close to where the incident occurred.

Now, the suspect has been named as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah.

According to Trump, somebody close to the suspect turned him in.

Trump went on to praise the local authorities and the collective effort in capturing the suspect.

He added that they ‘did a great job’ and noted that ‘everybody [was] working together’.

The shooting of Charlie Kirk

The political commentator died on stage during an event in Utah on Wednesday (September 10) after he was shot in the neck.

Kirk was known for being outspoken about his right-wing views and was in the middle of his ‘American Comeback’ tour where he answered questions about various moral issues including gun control.

Appearing at Utah Valley University (UVU) to a crowd of around 3,000 people, Kirk was asked by an audience member: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last ten years?”

Kirk replied: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”

A shot could be heard immediately after and videos captured the political pundit falling from his seat after being struck in his neck.

It was later confirmed that Kirk had died from his injuries sustained in the gunshot wound.

In a statement on his own social media platform Truth Social, President Donald Trump said: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

A press conference is now underway to give more details on the alleged shooter after video appeared to show him escaping from the rooftop of a building after the incident.
