Elon Musk faces explosive election interference allegations in new documentary
He might be the world's richest man, but is he really the most powerful as well? While Elon Musk seems to have gone a bit quieter since his explosive falling out with President Donald Trump and leaving his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, he's still been busy with ventures like (briefly) becoming the world's first trillionaire and launching the SpaceX IPO.
While some are unsure that Elon Musk is ready to leave his time in politics behind him, a new documentary could be about to bite him in the backside as it implies potential election interference.
Despite keeping a particularly private life, Mr. Musk's personal affairs are never far from the news.
2025 saw this via Ashley St. Clair's bombshell claims that she was the mother of Elon Musk's 13th child. Although she's seemingly left the MAGA movement behind, Ashley St. Clair has continued telling her side of the story, with some of this spilling over into documentarian Alex Gibney's upcoming feature film, Musk.

As previewed by The Hollywood Reporter, Musk contains some pretty shocking accusations, including St. Clair saying Musk had "degree of certainty" about Donald Trump winning the 2024 election that "I had never seen before."
Serving as evidence to back up her claims, Gibney's documentary includes an apparent text exchange between the pair, with St. Clair adding: "He had told me [before the election] he was going to unleash the ‘anomaly in the matrix'."
During their messages, Musk seemingly goes full Dr. Evil as he appears to tell her, "I have ten thousand lasers in space."
When asked off-camera if she thinks he was referring to his massive network of Starlink satellites, St. Clair simply replied: "I mean, I don’t know where else he has space lasers."
THR notes that Gibney leaves the meaning hanging as either a troll or a confession, although his voiceover says: "What is Elon building, what are his goals, what are his actual motivations, and do we even know this man at all?”
It's said that Musk splashed over $290 million on Trump's presidential campaign, while eyebrows were raised when he offered one random person $1 million a day for those who signed a pro-US Constitution petition from his America PAC campaign group.
While we all know how the story ended and that Trump returned to office for a second term, Musk sheds light on the tech billionaire's place in politics. The documentary implies that his brief stint as the head of DOGE did more than just axe 270,000 federal jobs, with there still being questions about whether Musk was privy to the sensitive data of millions of Americans.
Gibney himself asks: "We don’t know what DOGE/Musk did with the data to which they had access.
"What we do know — via my own source who ran IT at a major federal agency and via the whistleblowers and public accounts — is that the DOGE Boys had Super Admin status to federal IT systems. That means they could just slide a copy of the data on all of us to SpaceX as easily as dropping a file into a folder."
All of this is before we get into fears from the so-called Godfather of AI about how this exact kind of situation could be combined with AI to influence future elections.
With potential threats from space lasers, a possible scraping of our data from Musk’s time with DOGE, and whatever he's gleaned from us all since taking over X (formerly Twitter), Gibney's documentary sounds like it'll be a fascinating but unnerving watch.
