A man was left in utter shock by what he unboxed after he made an online order for the new iPhone 17.
The shocked customer took to social media to share the bizarre item he received from the store - and spoiler alert, it wasn’t an iPhone.
On the Reddit post, the man wrote: “I ordered an iPhone 17 pro from John Lewis and it was due to be delivered on 2nd of October but after 2 days delay it finally got delivered to evri collection point on 4th of October.
“I went to collect it and after the guy handed me the parcel i could see straight away it was retaped and tampered with. I tried to refuse the package but the guy said he cannot take it back as its evri problem.

“I have recorded the video of the package at the shop and went home and recorded myself unboxing the package as well.

“I sent all these evidence to John Lewis customer service and they are telling me that they have sent me the iPhone and their distribution centre has confirmed it and they will not be issuing me refund or replacement.
“I have sent the email to their press office and chairman and got the same message. I am NHS employee and buying John Lewis giftcard i could save £40 and i purchased giftcard to buy the phone. So I don't think i will be able to claim this back from my bank.”

To the man’s complete shock, instead of a new iPhone 17, there was a pink calculator waiting for him in the box.
The customer continued: “I had to ask them to contact Evri myself and this sounds really weird that the company would not investigate delivery issue with proof. It has been already over a week now and I haven't contacted police initially thinking its a straight forward case for john lewis and I genuinely thought John Lewis/Evri will be the one to contact police for investigation. Evri is telling me that i have to ask seller to contact them and this is john lewis response.”

Sharing an alleged response from the company, it read: “As a business we are confident that when your order left us it was perfectly packaged and sealed and therefore we have no further comment to make and wish to reiterate that we will not be offering a replacement nor a refund.”
People took to the comment section to share their reactions, with one user writing: “Not an advice but I can tell you that John Lewis definitely doesn't sell that calculator. I feel like the fraud happened at the corner shop where you picked the parcel from.”
And another added: “Just a reminder folks, use a credit card for online purchases! Your liability is £0.00 if anything goes wrong with your delivery.”
UNILAD Tech has contacted John Lewis for comment.
