Elon Musk has responded to a driver who passed out at the wheel of his Tesla on the freeway.
While electric vehicles have become pretty standard these days, Tesla was one of the companies that really pushed the envelope on eco-friendly cars while promising a high-tech future.
Following car safety experts' warnings about certain high-tech features that could put you at risk on the road, one lucky driver has a story about how his car literally 'saved his life.'
A user named RV (rishivohra) shared a scary experience on X where he passed out at the wheel while driving his Tesla on a freeway.

"I unintentionally fasted for 17 hours, took some medicine, and had a severe allergic reaction. My body shut down—I passed out while driving on the freeway, mid-conversation with my wife on the phone," he explained. "Thank God my Tesla had Full Self-Driving engaged. It detected I lost consciousness (thanks to the driver monitoring system), immediately slowed, activated hazards, and safely pulled over to the shoulder. No crash. No danger to anyone else on the road."
He added that his wife heard him 'go silent' during their phone call and, at that point, knew 'something was wrong.'
She quickly used the Life360 app, which tracks loved ones' locations and sends alerts when they arrive at or leave certain places, plus it can notify you if someone needs help or gets lost. After his wife contacted emergency services, they found the driver 'within 5 minutes.'
"They attended to me enough for me to tell them, 'I don't want to abandon my truck here on the freeway.' So the Tesla autonomously drove me the rest of the way to the ER. I walked in, got admitted, and they stabilized me overnight," he posted.
After tagging CEO Elon Musk and Tesla in his post, Musk himself replied directly: "Glad you're ok!❤️"
Fortunately, the man is recovering well and is being discharged from the hospital.
"I'm being discharged today—levels back to normal, feeling grateful and alive," the Tesla driver wrote.
He concluded: "Huge thanks to my incredible wife for staying calm and acting fast, and to @elonmusk @Tesla @tesla for engineering cars that literally protect lives when the driver can't. This isn't just convenience—it's life-saving tech. 🙏⚡❤️"
Musk previously reported that Tesla is moving away from two popular models to focus more on robotics. In particular, the tech mogul is ramping up production of Tesla's Optimus robot, which has already shown eerily human-like behaviours in the demonstrations we've seen so far.
