Elon Musk has responded after a Tesla owner completed the first ever fully autonomous drive across the country.
This comes as a man from Washington completed a driverless drive from one coast of the United States to the other.
David Moss detailed his experience in a post published to X, formerly Twitter, where he said: “I am proud to announce that I have successfully completed the world’s first USA coast to coast fully autonomous drive!
“I left the Tesla Diner in Los Angeles 2 days & 20 hours ago, and now have ended in Myrtle Beach, SC (2,732.4 miles).

“This was accomplished with Tesla FSD V14.2 with absolutely 0 disengagements of any kind even for all parking including at Tesla Superchargers.”
According to the post, Moss embarked on his journey from LA where he then drove 2,732.4 miles to South Carolina.
The journey took him through 24 states and lasted two days and 20 hours.
In a separate post, Moss shared a detailed cross-country map that shows his route along with the 30 stops he made on the way to car the EV.
This is reportedly the first ride of its kind to drive completely autonomous with no driver interruption whatsoever.
Many people took to social media to share their own reactions to the post, with one user writing: “This is awesome! Thanks for being the one to rip the bandaid off and prove it’s possible.”
Another said: “This is awesome man. I want to road trip and see all the states but the actual driving itself can be so brutal. Looking forward to getting some FSD camper van conversion in the future hopefully Tesla makes a van some day.”
A third person commented: “2,700 miles with 0 disengagements. That’s more stability than the entire market has seen this month. Respect the tech.”

And a fourth added: “Official: We are living in the autonomous future. Just a matter of getting the transportation authorities to recognize it.”
And the post also drew the attention of Tesla’s boss, Musk, who took to X to repost Moss, adding: “Cool.”
Musk has set his sights on making self-driving cars the future after unveiling the Tesla robotaxi back in 2024.
The vehicle will be fully autonomous and will enable owners to use their vehicles as taxi services when they are not in use.
The robotaxi began a limited rollout in Austin, Texas, in June 2025.
