Stereotypes can be hilarious or harmful depending on what they focus on, yet one Instagram account has used AI to create 'stereotypical' recreations of men from countries around the world, splitting opinion on its accuracy and appeal.
You can do a lot with artificial intelligence especially as the tech continues to improve and enhance its capabilities, and while many experts warn about the dangers of AI in the near future, some are using it for more humorous means in the time being.
It's fascinating to see what it's able to produce from a near unlimited amount of trained data, and stereotypes - which essentially boil down the broader opinion into a simple collected form - seem perfect for AI to produce.

It has already been used to create a European's image of each American state, but a new prompt, as reported by the Daily Mail, reveals the stereotypical image of men from countries around the world.
Posted by 'reimagineuk' on Instagram, they have asked generate AI software to create short videos of men from 11 different countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, Japan, and more.
First up is the UK, and it's what you'd likely imagine when you hear the word 'bloke'.

An overweight man in a football shirt stood in front of terraced housing - while not necessarily the most flattering, it's hard not to see the resemblance towards the average man on the British Isles.
Next in line is America, and you'll quickly realize quite how stereotypical these will become. Cowboy hat? Check. Lumberjack shirt? Check. Cheeseburger? Check. Combine that with the big beard, sunglasses, and pickup truck, and you've got an American that would come to mind for many - and even eerily similar to a possible GTA 6 Easter egg character.
Portugal, Spain, Nigeria, and Italy are all various forms of smart and suited up - although the first has a near uncanny resemblance to Cristiano Ronaldo if you look closely.

Japan's entry is has a similar shirt and tie get-up, but looks far more like the overworked salaryman that many imagine the average Japanese adult to be, whereas France's black turtleneck and book-in-hand look matches up with the philosophical artist roaming the streets of Paris.
Many in the comments have expressed their appeal towards the suited quartet in particular, with one writing: "I love Italy and Portugal's style."
"UK is a nightmare, I go for Portugal," writes another, whereas one other comment contradicts the stereotype, arguing that the "average Portuguese man is far from that."
Similarly, one commenter illustrates that "nobody in Spain has ever worn that, except Antonio Banderas," and another comment points out that instead of muscles, "the guy from the US would have a big beer gut and weigh 500lbs."

It seems that even common stereotypes - both negative and positive - can still split opinion, and even those within the country that's being shown seem to find issue with its accuracy.
