AI has created what Europeans think of Americans from each state - and it might offend you

It certainly didn't hold back

Artificial intelligence continues to blow our minds on how it perceives us.

Many have cringed or argued over AI's perception of the 'most attractive man' from every country or its version of the 'average person' from around the world.

Well, it’s back at it again - but brace yourself this time, as the results may spark a few heated responses.

AI's latest venture involves generating images of what Europeans supposedly think Americans from each of the 50 states look like - stereotypes, props, and all.

It’s not the first time AI has delivered some seriously questionable portraits, but these creations just might take the top.

Take a look yourself (courtesy of the generative AI platform, Midjourney):

First up is Alabama and it's far from flattering. AI's interpretation features a man with wild hair and a toothless grin wearing dirty clothes.

Meanwhile, California shows off the high life in the picture of a woman holding two takeaway coffees and a cute dog. She's certainly got the vibe with a flashy jumper and shades.

Over in Florida, it looks exactly as you’d expect if you’ve heard the 'Florida Man' memes (although I'm sure the GTA VI developers have something to say here...) Friendly, sure, but there’s a wild spark in his eye that suggests he’s five minutes away from doing something crazy.

Meanwhile, Idaho keeps it simple with a man in a tartan shirt, sitting on a stool, clutching a giant potato. It’s somehow funny, sad and weirdly endearing at the same time.

Hawaii’s portrayal looks like something out of a vintage tourism ad or old movie poster. A seemingly wholesome couple with Hawaiian shirts are chilling on a beach, soaking up the sun.

Massachusetts, though? AI created a sweaty and angry baseball cap guy who looks like his favourite sports team has lost the cup.

However, Nevada's image is a bit on the nose, with a grandpa in the middle of some gambling chaos in Vegas. Where are the aliens? Area 51?

That's actually in New Mexico. The AI image generator decided this state was a full-blown alien invasion movie that are ready to take over Earth. No comment.

Finally, Texas is all stereotypes rolled into one. We're talking about a cowboy hat wielding a gun in one hand and an oversized burger in the other.

At the end of the day, it just proves that AI’s weird perception knows no bounds and it's not afraid it.

Though, we're a little worried what it may come up with next.
