It has been exactly one year since Donald Trump was inaugurated as president of the United States for the second time, yet for many that's been more than enough with a dark future ahead of them.
Between DOGE-fuelled cost cutting, wild global tariffs, the implementation of ICE across America, ties to Jeffrey Epstein and so much more, President Donald Trump has already gone further and done more than many expected, and it only seems like it'll continue for the rest of his second term.
There are even threats from the current administration that Trump will break from the constitutional two-term limit and run again in 2028, but for now all everyone has to worry about is the next three years at the very least.
A lot can happen in 36 months though, and through the use of ChatGPT we can see a vision of what America might look like during that time period, and it's certainly not pretty.

In the image above there are so many extremely concerning elements that it's hard to know where to begin, but at the center of the frame is the continued pressure that ICE is putting on the United States.
You can see several immigration agents decked out in heavy police gear, seemingly targeting a group of protestors who are holding signs that say 'No More Dictator' and 'Stop Tyranny' — albeit with the mess that you'd expect from text in an AI image.
Alongside this you can see a number of alarming billboards in the immediate background, with one ominously noting that 'AI will take your jobs!' (perhaps a warning from ChatGPT itself here?) and another propaganda poster declaring 'Order & Security' alongside a bald eagle.
To the right of the image you can see shelves for 'Made in the USA' products that are completely empty alongside boxes full of 'tariffs', perhaps suggesting that supply has dried up in the United States amid Trump's continued pressure on imports.
Finally, a pollution producing power plant fills the backdrop with smoke as Trump further reverses progress made towards protecting the climate, endangering the planet's future.
Similar images have been generated by users on Reddit, with one projecting a particularly dystopian future that doesn't necessarily feel too far from reality for many across the county.
A large poster of Trump's face alongside an order to 'Obey & Comply' looms over a 'Trump Re-Education Center' with a long line of handcuffed individuals being funnelled into the prison-like facility.
Users in the comments are noting that their AI models are producing similar images despite never discussing their political leanings, suggesting that this is the 'default' idea of what ChatGPT thinks the future will look like.
One even argued that this image is 'evidence' that "the AI is smarter than most American voters," whereas another spotted that a barebones prompt produced an image with a subject of 'a ruined nation in 2027'.
