Elon Musk explains why he'll never play GTA

Not everyone is so excited about the new trailer for GTA VI.

With over 70 million thousand views in 16 hours, the world has gone wild for the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer.

But one person who doesn't seem to care so much? Tesla and SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk.

'GTA 6' might currently be a trending topic on X, the social media platform Musk owns, but he's not really buying into the hype.

In response to a post by someone who works at X, which read:

"A list of games I have not played:

GTA1

GTA2

GTA3

GTA4

GTA5

GTA6"

Musk replied: "Tried, but didn’t like doing crime. GTA5 required shooting police officers in the opening scene. Just couldn’t do it."

It would seem like the GTA universe is full of too much lawbreaking for Musk - and this is certainly the case for GTA VI, if the trailer is anything to go by.

Set in the fictional Vice City - based on Miami - the trailer is narrated by Lucia, the franchise's first female protagonist, who looks to have broken out of prison and is on the run.

A prison breakout would probably be too illegal for Musk - and he also might not like the high-speed car chases and corner store stickups that feature in the trailer either.

X users couldn't help but make light-hearted fun of Musk's somewhat rigid stance.

"Did you follow the traffic laws and stop at all the red lights" one asked, while another was quick to remind him that the characters are "just pixels".

Another joked: "Elon the type of dude to follow the speed limit in GTA."

GTA VI appears to feature stickups.

But it would seem like you don't actually have to indulge in criminal activities to play the game - one X user wrote: "I just like to drive around the city, I never did any of the objectives," while another recommended: "You can get pretty far into GTA IV without committing almost any crimes if I remember right. I think that's the GTA that's easiest to avoid killing in for many missions."

Musk has a long time to change his mind on GTA VI, as it was revealed today that the new game will be coming out in 2025.
