The Fallout franchise might've dropped a nuke on the competition when it comes to Amazon's live-action series, but when it comes to the video games, it feels like the IP is being kept locked underground in a Vault-Tec vault.
Bethesda has promised that Fallout 5 is coming, but with The Elder Scrolls 6 to get out of the way first, we're not expecting to see the next outing this side of 2030. Considering Fallout 4 released in 2015, and the disappointing Fallout 76 isn't really counted as a mainline entry, it sometimes feels like we've been cast out into a radiated wasteland of disappointment.
Gaming icons don't come much bigger than Fallout, but with Bethesda now under Microsoft's umbrella, whatever comes next might be a very different beast.
One easy way to fill the gaps would be to take a leaf out of Capcom's book with Resident Evil, interspersing new entries with remakes of some old favorites.

It's hard to believe that in the 28 years of Fallout games, we haven't had an official remake. We say official because there have been multiple fan projects that have given these apocalyptic adventures a facelift.
More than this, it's almost unfathomable that Obsidian Entertainment's Fallout: New Vegas remains largely untouched since it launched in 2010. With Bethesda's main arm working hard on Fallout 4, the studio decided to hand the reins over to Obsidian for a spin-off. Instead, the developer managed to make something that many regard as one of the greatest video games of all time, let alone the 'best' Fallout game.
There's been plenty of chatter about Fallout remakes, with New Vegas frequently coming to the top of the list. Now, Danny Trejo has thrown his support behind the idea. As well as being known for his roles in movies including Con Air, From Dusk till Dawn, and leading the Machete movies, Trejo also voiced Raul the Ghoul in Fallout: New Vegas.
Has Bethesda announced a Fallout: New Vegas remake?

Responding to Bethesda's official Instagram revealing what to expect from October 23's Fallout Day, a passionate Trejo replied: "Remaster New Vegas boss! 🔥"
Others agreed, with one person writing: "Listen to Raul Alfonso Tejada, Bethesda 🙌🏻."
Another said: "I mean… if even Danny himself ask for this… 😂."
A third concluded: "Yes Danny, I want to see my dear Raul in high definition 🙏."

Unfortunately, these pleas fell on deaf ears. While there's no denying that Bethesda rolled out the red carpet for Fallout Day 2025, it's not quite rolled the dice on a New Vegas remake. Instead, the gaming giant announced The Fallout: New Vegas 15th Anniversary Bundle, coming to PC in 2026. Don't even expect upgraded graphics, as this includes the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, a collector's box, and some merch that includes a statue, some patches, and an enamel pin.
With Amazon's series heading to New Vegas in season 2, here's hoping Bethesda will finally realize what it's missing out on and the fact that it's turning down piles of money by not giving us the New Vegas remake Trejo and the rest of the world are waiting for.
