If you’ve ever hustled out the door on a freezing morning only to find your windshield glazed over with fog, then we feel your pain. It’s hardly surprising then that drivers are losing it over a simple little gadget that claims to stop the problem entirely.

It’s all thanks to TikTok creator @allukreviews, who has gone viral after showing how a set of reusable car dehumidifier bags kept his windshield clear overnight, no frantic wiping or blasting the heat on full power required.

The bags, sold in a two-pack for £11.49 on Amazon (UK) or $19.99 for two in the US, are designed to dry out the air inside your car before moisture has a chance to cling to the glass.

How to use a car dehumidifier bag

In his video, the TikToker explains that you just toss one of the bags onto your dashboard or anywhere inside the car before you head in for the night. By the time you come back in the morning, the bag has absorbed the moisture that would normally turn into that stubborn mist.

The creator describes it as a “life saver,” and apparently thousands of Amazon shoppers agree.

And at such a great piece, who could blame them? Given the fact they are reusable, the cost-per-use could be as low as 8 cents if you use it daily for six months (it's suggested you can use them from between six months to a year, but some users insist they're still working perfectly after two years).

One happy customer wrote: “I bought two of these and they have been a game changer!”

While another said: “Fantastic product. Used in my son’s car and my car. So good ordering more for family. (I usually don’t write reviews but this definitely deserves one)”

Why does my car windscreen fog up in winter?

Condensation in winter happens because the air inside the vehicle is warmer and more humid than the chilly air outside.

Things like breathing, wet coats, damp shoes or tracked-in snow add extra moisture to the cabin, and that vapor settles on cold windows instantly.

Not only does this impair visibility, but long-term dampness can be bad for your interior and encourage mold, so really these bags are a no brainer.

How do the car dehumidifier bags work?

Each pouch contains moisture-absorbing beads and activated carbon, which can draw in up to 60% of their own weight in water. They don’t require electricity, batteries or anything fancy - just place and leave.

Best of all, they’re reusable. Once the bag reaches capacity, you can dry it out on a radiator, in a warm airing space or even in the microwave for a few minutes at 600W. A color-changing indicator flips from pink to blue when the bag is ready to be reheated.
