People in disbelief at comical difference between new Samsung and iPhone feature

This AI-powered feature has just arrived on iPhone, and the results aren't great

One tech content creator has revealed the difference between Apple and Samsung's handling of a key AI-powered feature, and many are finding the glaring differences hilarious.

While Apple has remained on top for most of the last decade, their iPhones and Samsung's devices have gone head to head in the smartphone market, often looking for ways to one up each other with new tech.

They've repeatedly borrowed from each other over the years, with the iPhone only recently nabbing a cybersecurity feature that allows you to password-protect your apps, but Apple's recent pinch from the other side hasn't exactly gone down as well as they'd hoped.

Magic Eraser was an AI-powered featured introduced through the Google Pixel 6 line of phones back in 2021, letting people remove aspects of photos that they didn't want to be there, and Samsung introduced a similar feature named Object Eraser around the same time.

It's a feature that has proved to be extremely popular, as you're able to get rid of any annoying bystanders or photobombers in your holiday snaps, or erase anything that snuck into the frame unexpectedly.

Almost three years later Apple finally got in the game with 'Clean Up' - their own version of Magic Eraser using the power of Apple Intelligence, although Samsung's years of experience has definitely given it the advantage over the iPhone counterpart.

Content creator and reviewer Mark's Tech made the comparison abundantly clear through a side-by-side on X, showing how well both the Samsung S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max were able to remove objects clearly in the foreground.

Samsung's application of the technology is essentially flawless to the naked eye, erasing the object as if it was never even there, whereas the iPhone's attempts are a bit more blobby to say the least.

Both Mark's hand and fireplace in a second comparison become completely indistinguishable, with fragments of the supposedly removed object still in tact, albeit in a blurry mess.

What's more, the Samsung version is so good that countless replies simply are refusing to believe it's real and not just two separate pictures.

"There's no way that picture of an empty hand is ACTUALLY an object erased using Samsung's phone" cries one user, yet Mark is here with the receipts, posting a video of him showing the before and after in action.

"Samsung's AI recreated the fingers, creases, cracks," adds another user, with Mark arguing that the tech is "actually insane."

In regards to the iPhone's disappointing quality, one comment outlines: "If I wasn't stuck in the iPhone cult I probably would've gone back to Samsung long ago," and with results like these it's hard to ignore.

You have to wonder whether it'll be too long before Apple catch up though, especially with how much the company is pushing Apple Intelligence in areas like Siri. At the moment though, you might want to stay away from Clean Up, or at least try and get the perfect photo in the first place!
