As the new iPhone 18 lineup is expected to be unveiled next week as part of Apple’s upcoming ‘surprise and shine’ event, now might be the time to trade in your old device.
This comes as the tech giant revealed that next Wednesday (September 9) it will be hosting its annual phone event, complete with a keynote address from Apple’s new CEO John Ternus, who took over the role from Tim Cook this week.
The event will be hosted at the Steve Jobs theater in Apple Park, Cupertino, California, but fans will be able to watch from around the world as it will be streamed live online.
So, if you want to get the most money for your trade-in ahead of the upcoming launch, then here is everything you need to know.

First off, it’s important to note that the actual value of your current iPhone depends on a number of factors. According to Envirofone, this includes the exact model, its storage capacity, and the overall condition of the device.
If your device is damaged that doesn’t mean it’s unsellable. On the contrary, your phone doesn’t need to be in mint condition to retain trade-in value, however, damage will impact the price that your device will ultimately sell for.
It can also change the price if the phone is or isn’t working correctly, whether it’s locked or not and the current demand for that model.
The device might also go down in value after the release of the new iPhone, effectively making old models even older.
Envirofone explains: “This can influence the demand and pricing of older devices. It doesn't mean that every iPhone will suddenly become worth less, but it does mean that anyone planning an upgrade should consider checking their phone’s current value.”

Of course, there’s always the option to trade-in your old phone for a newer model, as the phone recycling firm goes on to state: “If you’re waiting for Apple’s next iPhone, selling your existing handset before launch can help you prepare financially for the upgrade. You can check your iPhone’s current value now, decide whether the offer works for you and then make your next move once Apple confirms its new devices and pricing.”
