The battle of the maps continues, as Google Maps and Apple Maps continue to duke it out. While Android users will likely default to Google Maps, it seems even iPhone users can't be persuaded to use the rival service.
Now, Apple could be tempting us to use Apple Maps, with iPhone fans pointing out a handy feature that supposedly ensures you'll never be late again. The grind of the morning routine can be a monotonous one, and as much as you'd like to be on time, how many times do you find yourself getting out of the shower and lying on the bed in a wet towel as you scroll through TikTok?
Over on Reddit, one iPhone user pointed out a handy part of Apple Maps that we might be sleeping on. Better yet, it could be revolutionary to your morning routine and completely change your commute.

Posting in the ADHD subreddit, u/JAR14 explained how they make use of Apple Maps' ETA feature. As the arrival time updates in real-time, you can see exactly when you're due to arrive at a destination. At least if you're going to be late, you'll know how late you're going to be. The OP writes: "So if you turn on ur apple maps, you get an ETA. And the map stays on the screen. I turn it on the first thing in the morning. Every-time i look down i see the ETA. And i know. And can decide what i can do or dont have time for."
After one former Uber driver dubbed Apple Maps the best for navigation in terms of getting you there the quickest, we've just found another reason to love it.
Responding in the comments, it seems others were equally impressed by the unexpected hack.

One supporter wrote: "Oh love this! I'm an Apple user and I discovered last year that when I put an address in the "location" field on the calendar app, and set the alert as the ‘time to leave’ it'll automatically show up when it's nearing the time to go! It'll be like ‘leave by 3:22pm to arrive on time’ which has also been major!!"
Another added: "I've been doing this for years, but now my problem is that I feel like I still have more time than I do while watching the ETA go down 😭 so I'm still late."
A third joked: "That’s a 🔥tip! I mean RIP my battery, but sometime ya gotta just choose yr poison."

One of Apple Maps' other big benefits that you might forget about is its ability to work offline. Downloading the app to your phone allows for the likes of turn-by-turn directions, place details, and estimated time of arrival without the need for Wi-Fi or cellular service.
Still, not everyone loves Apple Maps. There was an embarrassing situation in 2012 when Apple CEO Tim Cook apologized for the state of Apple Maps and told people to use Google Maps instead.
When Apple Maps first launched alongside the iPhone 5, Cook said: "While we're improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app."
Apple Maps has come on leaps and bounds since then, and even if you prefer Google Maps, it could be time to give Apple's in-built service another go.
