Apple have recently launched a new iPhone model that includes some impressive features.
While the iPhone 17 showcases numerous innovative features and users anticipate five major upgrades coming with iOS 26.4, some consumers might be more interested in a new model that revives a beloved older capability.
Although the new software update has caused backlash among the Apple community regarding the company's plan to require UK users to verify their age before accessing certain apps and services.
Now, just months after the tech giant unveiled its iPhone 17 lineup, reports suggest a more affordable alternative is set to debut very soon.

Apple's iPhone 17e promises 'faster performance, an advanced camera system, enhanced durability,' and double the minimum storage capacity at 256GB. The new device also includes an updated chip, improved wireless charging and other hardware improvements.
It comes with a 6.1-inch screen, matching last year's iPhone 16E, but that display has been upgraded with Ceramic Shield 2 glass, which provides 'seven-layer anti-reflective coating [and] reduces glare even in bright sunlight,' Apple reported.
However, the iPhone 17e has some limitations compared to the pricier iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models, most notably featuring only a single camera.
Perhaps the most exciting feature is the return of MagSafe.
Charging at Qi2 speeds, Apple claims the iPhone 17e can charge wirelessly at 15W, up from 7.5W on last year’s model.
According to Apple's official website: "Now with MagSafe. iPhone 17e enables wireless charging up to 15W, compared to 7.5W with iPhone 16e. That means when you need to charge, it’s easy, convenient and fast. And with built-in magnets, you can easily snap into a family of accessories including chargers, cases and more."
Some Reddit users appreciate the new capabilities but still prefer the flagship model, writing: "Thank god they brought MagSafe to this thing, that was always a weird decision in my view because it is really part of the ecosystem imo. Also good for the base storage bump.
"BUT I’d never get this phone. 17 is way better for not muuuch more."
Another user pointed out how the missing MagSafe affected their previous purchase decision: "That’s nice. Arguably that was one of the reasons I passed when I desperately needed to replace my broken phone last year."
Apple continues developing an enhanced Siri version that will incorporate Google technology and answer questions using personal context about its user.
The iPhone 17e will reportedly cost the same $599 or £599 as its predecessor and will offer three colour options including black, white, and pink.
