Elon Musk has called out a ‘confusing’ Apple change that has left iPhone users feeling baffled.
This week, the tech giant announced that it was making a major change to its operating system and it has been deemed rather ‘confusing’.
While iOS 18 was first launched back in September 2024, many Apple fans have been eagerly awaiting for the next upgrade for their iPhone.

Many have been expecting iOS 19 to be announced in the next couple of weeks at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), but Apple has other ideas.
In fact, the company has revealed that it will be skipping iOS 19 altogether and instead will be jumping straight to iOS 26… stay with me.
The reason behind this bizarre move is down to the fact that the operating system upgrades will now be following the calendar year.
This has prompted a huge response on social media, with many people sharing their own thoughts on the matter.

On X, formerly Twitter, one user wrote: “So what if they innovate faster than 1.0 per year?”
Another said: “This actually makes sense. They should do the same thing for the iPhone… since they refuse to innovate they might as well just do what car manufacturers do.”
And a third person added: “that's so lame…”
And it seems like Musk is among the people who aren’t convinced by the surprise move.

The billionaire took to his own social media platform X to weigh in on the subject where he wrote: “What happens in the year 2100?”
This prompted many suggestions from users, with one person saying: “In 2100 it’ll be 'iOS Infinity', and the update will finally let you delete the Stocks app.”
Another joked: “iOS 69420.69 rolls out perhaps.”

And a third added: “y2k all over again thanks apple.”
The announcement has also left a lot of questions as to whether this means we’ll be getting iOS 26 this year or next.
But one thing is certain, it’ll be a shift that affects every Apple product, so expect the next update on your device to include iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26 and watchOS 26.
And fear not, it’s just the name that is changing, all of the software updates will be the same as what was expected for iOS 19.
