Apple revealed its official iPhone App of the Year but some people have never heard of it.

Just last week, Apple announced the winners of the 2024 App Store Awards.

Recognising 17 apps and games, the awards include those 'that helped users ignite their creativity, achieve new milestones, and cherish everyday moments with family and friends,' according to the tech giant.

From solo developers to multinational teams, the winners were chosen out of 45 finalists for demonstrating the 'highest levels of user experience, design, and innovation.'

Only six months old, the camera app is designed to shoot cinematic footage. Created by Lux Optics, makers of the popular photography app Halide, it offers professional-style colour grading in a beginner-friendly format.

According to Apple: "Kino shows users how cinematic life can be through its film-inspired filters and advanced controls."

The app outcompeted two other finalists in the category: Runna (a running app) and Tripsy (a travel planner),

Ironically, iPhone users on Reddit gathered to say that some of them have never even heard of Kino.

"Don’t use any of them," one user commented on the app finalists announcement.

"lol, only ones I use from that list is Temu and TikTok," said another.

"I have only ever tried 2 of those and it has been a long time that I have used them," remarked another iPhone user.

Over in the gaming category, Apple's iPhone Game of the Year went to AFK Journey, where the game keeps going even when you’re offline.

For the Vision Pro headset, the tech giant's pick was Disney's What If...? An Immersive Story. The game comes from Marvel Studios, ILM Immersive, and Disney+, welcoming users to a 'What If' world set in the Marvel Universe.

Other winners included Lumy, the Apple Watch App of the Year, which helps users connect with the sun's daily patterns.

Meanwhile, Moises won iPad app of the year. Moises is an AI-powered app that removes vocals and instruments from any song to help musicians hone their craft.

“We are thrilled to honor this impressive group of developers who are harnessing the power of Apple devices and technology to deliver experiences that enrich the lives of users and have a profound impact on their communities,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

“The remarkable achievements of this year’s winners demonstrate the incredible ingenuity that can be unlocked through apps.”
