TSA officially bans nine bizarre items from flights as it issues warning to passengers

It's bad news if you were planning to take cooking spray and gardening fertilizer onboard

TSA has officially banned nine bizarre items from flights as it has issued a warning out to passengers.

It might be worth checking which items are banned from airplanes before you board your next flight.

This comes after the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced its plans to put a blanket ban on certain items being allowed on flights.

And while there are some obvious objects that won’t be permitted, such as knives and rocket launchers, others are more unusual.

In a statement, TSA said: “TSA incorporates unpredictable security measures, both seen and unseen, to accomplish our transportation security mission.

Security measures begin long before you arrive at the airport. TSA works closely with the intelligence and law enforcement communities to share information.

Additional security measures are in place from the time you get to the airport until you get to your destination.

“TSA adjusts processes and procedures to meet the evolving threat and to achieve the highest levels of transportation security. Because of this, you may notice changes in our procedures from time to time.”

Which items have TSA banned from flights?

Among the new items on the no-fly list, cooking spray is official banned from being brought on planes as it contains highly flammable and combustible propellants.

Christmas crackers are also a no-go as TSA have said these are ‘flammable’.

Gardening fertilizer has a potential use for explosives so that has been banned, along with toy swords as they can bring about accidental panic.

Gel candles won’t be allowed in the cabin due to being a fire hazard but can be packed in a checked bag.

Another banned item is a heating pad as these contain liquid, and for a similar reason, magic 8 balls are also banned.

Party poppers are on the ban list and so is the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

TSA went on to state: “The US Department of Transportation, with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, have issued an emergency order to ban all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone devices from air transportation in the United States.

“Individuals who own or possess a Samsung Galaxy Note7 device may not transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the United States.”

Back in 2016, Samsung conducted an investigation, subsequently stating: “To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note 7.”
