A popular smartphone has officially been banned on planes after warnings were issued that it could explode on board.
A clip uploaded to social media has now gone viral after viewers were left stunned when one plane passenger noticed an unusual sign while boarding a flight.
In the clip, which has since had 2.6 million views on TikTok after being uploaded on June 6, a warning can be read on a sign leading up to the gate.

TikToker K-Shawn Brower (@malckbro) filmed the note which read: “FAA BANNED ITEM. Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Individuals may NOT transport this device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the US.”
The phone has been placed on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) no-fly list, with a statement on the agency’s website reading: “The US Department of Transportation, with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, have issued an emergency order to ban all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone devices from air transportation in the United States.
“Individuals who own or possess a Samsung Galaxy Note7 device may not transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the United States.”

Viewers were shocked to see the clip, with many questioning why the device was banned from flights.
In the TikTok comment section, one user wrote: “Those phones were recalled because of the batteries exploding so I hope no one is still using them.”
Another said: “Not me watching this on my Samsung Galaxy Note 7.”
A third person joked: “They still make androids? Lol.”

And a fourth added: “I’m a flight attendant. those phones cause fires.”
Back in 2016, Samsung conducted a ‘thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue’, according to a report by Indy100.
The phone firm added: “To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note 7.”

If you’re somehow still a proud owner of the Galaxy Note 7 then it might be time to swap it out for a much needed upgrade, otherwise you’ll have to go unplugged on your next trip!
