Things are finally starting to click (click) with Wednesday season 3, as Netflix's record-breaking series gets ready to take us back to Nevermore Academy. While Netflix is sometimes chastized for supposedly cutting down shows in their prime, there's still plenty of life left in the undead corpse that is Wednesday.
Giving us a reimagining of the Addams Family IP, Tim Burton returns in a dual role as executive producer and director on the ooky, kooky series. Wednesday has shattered records as Netflix's most-watched English-language series, and remembering how season 2 ended on a major cliffhanger, we always knew Jenna Ortega's titular outcast would be back for more.
We last saw Wednesday in September 2025, and now, the streaming giant has given us an all-important update.
What's going on with Wednesday season 3?

Season 3 was officially confirmed in July 2025, meaning it was locked in before season 2 even aired. Then again, is this any surprise? Season 1 sits just behind Squid Game season 1 as the most-watched show ever to grace Netflix, while season 2 was similarly lauded at No. 10 on the platform's most popular releases.

On Wednesday, September 30, Netflix gave us a suitably woeful update when it shared a new shot of Ortega in full Addams getup and confirmed that season 3 has wrapped production.
The Hollywood Reporter has some good and bad news for those who can't wait to see what's next.
Whereas we had to sit through a three-year gap between the first two seasons, it shouldn't be as agonizing this time around. Considering season 2 got an eight-month turnaround from production wrapping to release, Wednesday season 3 could realistically be on our screens in fall 2027.
The latest update isn't quite a solid release date, but it's at least something that things are rumbling forward as planned.
Who's new and who's returning for Wednesday season 3?

Ortega is obviously putting her pigtails back on to play the titular terror, while season 2's ending of Wednesday dashing off with Uncle Fester in hopes of saving Enid from being trapped as an alpha werewolf means Fred Armisen and Emma Myers are going to have key roles.
Hunter Doohan and Joy Sunday return as Tyler Galpin and Bianca Barclay, while Wednesday's family is back in action in the form of Isaac Ordonez's Pugsley Addams, Victor Dorobantu's Thing, Luis Guzmán's Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones' Morticia Addams, Joonas Suotamo's Lurch, and Joanna Lumley's Grandmama Hester Frump
In terms of who's not back, Percy Hynes White's Xavier Thorpe has been officially written off the show, Jamie McShane won't be reprising his role as Sheriff Galpin after his character arc came to its end, and Steve Buscemi's standout performance as Principal Barry Dort concluded with season 2. Both Gwendoline Christie's Larissa Weems and Christina Ricci’s Marilyn Thornhill have been absent from the season 3 production roster, but fear not, because a galaxy of stars are stepping up.
The big casting coup of season 2 was arguably Lady Gaga as Rosaline Rotwood, but in season 3, it's Casino Royale's Eva Green as Ophelia Frump. Season 2's big cliffhanger revealed that Morticia's MIA sister was being kept in Grandmama's basement.
Also new to the roster are Stranger Things' Winona Ryder, reuniting her with Beetlejuice's Burton as a mysterious character known as Tabitha.
Rounding things off are St. Elmo's Fire's Andrew McCarthy, Ted Lasso's James Lance, and Game of Thrones' Lena Headey.
All of the above join the previously announced Chris Sarandon (Dog Day Afternoon), Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders), Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and Kennedy Moyer (Task).
Even though it's undoubtedly good news that Wednesday season 3 has wrapped, settle in for a bit of a wait.
