One of the most iconic TV shows of the last two decades has just received a long-awaited 4K re-release on HBO Max, but while the quality looks better than ever before, fans have spotted a major blunder that appears to have slipped through the cracks.
The rise of streaming does certainly have its drawbacks as most people now don't own the shows that they typically end up rewatching every single year, but when it comes to convenience and a wealth of choice it's really hard to go back.
One of the most frustrating things to deal with as a subscriber of multiple streaming services though is not being able to watch your favorite show, or one that you've heard so many good things about, simply because it's not been made available.
Fans of Mad Men can now rejoice though as not only has the iconic AMC program been added to the already stellar HBO Max lineup, but it has now been restored in 4K, meaning that it'll look better than ever before.

If you've never watched Mad Men before then you're in for a treat, as the mysterious life of Don Draper in the world of advertising was a key part of TV's golden age for a reason, yet both experienced viewers and first-time fans might notice an unexpected yet major blunder in the middle of the first season.
As shared on the r/madmen subreddit, some users working their way through the new 4K re-release noticed that a scene in 'Red in the Face' (S01E07) where Sterling Cooper co-owner Roger vomits includes a rather glaring error — the 'vomit machine' is visible in the right of the frame.
Most bloopers like this are resigned to Starbucks cups in period dramas or the odd sight of a boom mic or camera operator, but it's pretty hilarious to only only see the machine that allows Roger to spew so violently, but the man operating it and another one to kindly place their hand on his back.

Frame comparisons to previous versions of the show display that this should simply be a 'blank' area of the frame where the machine operators have been removed in post, yet you can only assume that when upscaling the show to 4K this was passed over in error.

"This is hilarious, and the extra hand on the crew member's shoulder is killing me," writes on comment in response to the blunder. "Like someone else is giving him extra emotional support while he shoots fake vomit from a tube."
Another added that "it's just amazing that there is like no quality control on anything now," but one saving grace is that its existence on streaming means that they can technically 'patch' this error out and remove the crew member if they wanted to, whereas if it was a physical release this would obviously be impossible.
There's no indication that this will be done in the future though, and some fans have also been left wondering if there are any other errors present in later episodes of the show that rewatchers haven't quite reached yet.
