There are plenty of big shows to keep us glued to our screens in 2026, and while many of you are enjoying A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as the latest Game of Thrones spin-off, upcoming spectacles include The Testaments, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, Lantherns, the final season of The Boys, and more. Unfortunately, one of our favorite shows won't be back this year.
The streaming wars are spicier than ever, with Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Apple TV, and the rest continuing to duke it out.
Already boasting shows like Slow Horses and Ted Lasso, Apple TV scored another banger with Pluribus in 2025. Praised as one of the best shows of the year, it also managed to dethrone Apple's Severance to become the streaming service's most-watched series ever.
Still, with Severance claiming plenty of its own records over its first two seasons, there's also potential for it to overtake Pluribus again in the upcoming season 3. Apple's Tim Cook quickly confirmed Severance season 3 in the aftermath of the season 2 finale, although things have gone quiet since last March.

Executive producer Ben Stiller has already said that the plan is not to punish fans with the same three-year wait between the first two seasons, although an update from John Turturro has hinted that things aren't moving as quickly as we'd like.

Known for playing the fan-favorite Irving B./Irving Bailiff, Turturro's quirky character was last seen heading off to a seemingly happy ending, and looking like we could leave his story there.
Speaking to Collider, the 69-year-old briefly discussed season 3 when asked about the rumor that production would start in April 2026. A defiant Turturro said: "No, I’ve heard July."
Although he sounded like someone in the know, Turturro then clarified: "I don’t know nothing. I'm in the dark."
It would be odd if Turturro had the inside track on production unless he was coming back for season 3, and elsewhere, he opened up about his own hopes about where Irving could go next: "I don’t know if anyone knows about it. It’s deep in my imagination. Well, last we know, he was on a train.
“You always think about your character’s personal, intimate life that you don’t really see in a movie. You're always thinking about, ‘I wonder what they do when they’re alone.'"
Even if Turturro's beloved portrayal of Irving didn't already have fans clamoring for his return, he previously suggested to The Hollywood Reporter that this wasn't the end of the road for the oldest member of the Macrodata Refinement department.
Back in March 2025, when asked whether he'd be satisfied if this was Irving's end, Turturro said: "No. And I don’t think it is. If someone wanted the story to be complete? It could be! But I think there’s so much more here."
Following the latest update, many took to Reddit to lament the seemingly growing wait for season 3, with one person writing: "16 months between season 2 finale and BEGINNING filming? Absolutely ridiculous imo."
Another joked: "When Stiller said the wait would be less time he meant it would be exactly 1 day less."
A third said: "Christ this is frustrating. If they don't plan in advance and have S4 shoot around the time S3 airs then they're really dumb."
No matter what, the eventual release of Severance season 3 is sure to reignite all that talk around the water cooler.
