One YouTuber took the generosity of Tesla to the extreme by seeing quite how far they could stretch 111,600 worth of Tesla referral credits, and its simply staggering what he was able to get in return.

If you've ever been interested in picking up your own Tesla there's a chance that you might have came across a referral code - either from a friend, family member, or content creator online.

This gives you some money off your purchase - which is definitely helpful considering the price of many Tesla vehicles - and it also gives a nice reward to the person that referred you.

While most regular Tesla owners might pick up one or two referrals if they're lucky, a YouTuber with over 700,000 subscribers has a far wider reach and can therefore earn themselves far more in return in the form of Tesla credits.

That's what happened with Tesla-focused YouTuber Jack Massey Welsh, as he managed to rack up 111,600 credits with just one day left to spend them before they expire.

What did Jack spend his Tesla credits on?

If you've never earned any Tesla credits before you might not realize quite how ridiculous having 111,600 of them is.

At the point at which Jack made the video, the most highest value item that you can exchange for is a Wall Connector at 9,000 credits, and this would cost you $420 if you were to buy it directly from the Tesla store.

It's not a flat exchange value for everything on the store, but using the Wall Connector as a reference it works out as $1 per 21.4 credits - so having 111,600 of them is technically worth around $5,215.

Unfortunately there's not a lot that you can actually exchange your credits for right now, and most of it doesn't apply to the Model 3 that Jack actually owns.

He ended up getting 50 different items in exchange for his credits, which included three Wall Connectors, several different wheel cap kits, pet liners for the seats, another year of Premium Connectivity, 9,000 free Supercharging miles, and more Tesla-branded clothes than he could ever possibly wear.

It got to a point where clearly the app had reached breaking point as it actively removed the Wall Connector listing, so either they somehow ran out of stock or someone hit a big red button at Tesla HQ to bring an end to this challenge.

When everything arrived a few weeks later Jack revealed that he'd be giving almost all of the clothes away to homeless shelters - where the padded coats would be especially valued - alongside gifting a number of the expensive add-ons to family and even potentially viewers too.

One shocking consequence is that shortly after exchanging his credits he received a message saying that his referral limit had been reached, meaning that not only would be not be able to earn any more rewards, but no other customers would be able to use his code to get money off.

A number of other big Tesla creators also received the message around the same time too, so it wasn't necessarily a response to his actions, although perhaps the ridiculous amount that he ordered forced Tesla to implement a limit to prevent this from happening again.
