Things have just got spicy, as Sean Evans has purchased Hot Ones from Buzzfeed for an eye-watering $82,500,000, promising a hot future for the show and First We Feast brand as a whole.

YouTube has increasingly become the home of unorthodox celebrity interview formats, with shows like Chicken Shop Date, Sneaker Shopping, and Hot Ones being some of the most popular.

These often involve placing celebrities in rather unusual formats where the traditional questions often become the backdrop, and Hot Ones in particular has seen major success on social media by putting its interviewees through a grueling set of super spicy chicken wings.

Hot off the press though is news that Sean Evans - the host - has purchased the show from now-former owner Buzzfeed for $82,500,000 in cash, which is monumental with the 10th anniversary just on the horizon.

Evans, who has been the host since the show's inception in March 2015, was joined by First We Feast founder Chris Schonberger, Crooked Media, Rhett & Link's Mythical Entertainment, and Soros Fund Management in the bid as reported by Variety.

In a statement following the purchase, Evans claimed: "The future is spicy, and I can't wait to see what's next."

This has certainly stoked the flames of fans who are anticipating big changes and innovations ahead, and on top of this it has been declared that this new investment in the company will let First We Feast "expand into new areas [...] including new platforms, live events, and talent acquisitions."

Outside of Hot Ones, in which Evans has interviewed huge names like Gordon Ramsay, Billie Eilish, and Shaq, First We Feast also has a number of other food-related shows like The Burger Show, Snacked, and Heat Eaters.

You can only imagine that these shows will grow in their production, and new opportunities will arise too. The nature of talent acquisitions definitely implies this, and you wonder what big names in the food content creation world might be on their way over to the brand.

First We Feast also has a number of their own food products too, like a range of Hot Sauces so you can enjoy the fire from the comfort of your own home - and perhaps even play along with the latest episodes of Hot Ones if you dare.

While continuing to host Hot Ones, Evans will also be moving to the new position of Chief Creative Officer following the acquisition.

The new season of Hot Ones is scheduled to begin on January 26 next year, but you'll also be able to enjoy the chaos of the Annual Holiday Extravaganza prior to the premiere.
