YouTuber goes against professional private investigator in escape room to see who's fastest

Do you fancy yourself as a pro escape room escapee?

Do you remember when we were all released from our homes as the pandemic started to lift? As social distancing still kept some of us away from each other, there was a boom in escape rooms as households immediately left the confines of being locked up...to be locked up again.

Escape rooms are still a popular form of entertainment, and aside from Sony's two Escape Room movies, we've seen experiences based on everything from Game of Thrones to Saw.

YouTubers continue to find new ways to keep us entertained, but after embarking on a quest to become the most wanted man in Europe and legally declaring himself dead, Max Fosh has now found a new form of entertainment as he goes up against a professional private investigator to see who can escape an escape room the quickest.

Fosh refers to himself as an 'average person', and as the video kicks off, it's immediately clear that the private investigator's daily skills might come in handy. Heading to a Sherlock Holmes-themed escape room in London, it should be exactly the kind of thing the private investigator can whip through.

Suggesting he's got something of a knack for escape rooms, the PI is quickly into the second room while Fosh is still blundering around the first. Better yet, the investigator even does it with a suave, "We're in."

Still, with 'some miracle', Fosh apparently caught up to his rival as the video makes it look like they both make it to the final clue at a similar time.

Joking about a 'photo finish' time, the private investigator completed the escape room in 29 minutes and 18 seconds, while Fosh got out in…one hour, 11 minutes, and 53 seconds.

With the YouTube star taking well over double the time of the PI, we'd maybe suggest that Fosh stick to his day job. Interestingly, the whole thing makes a case that your everyday job could really help this kind of activity.

If you've got any private investigator friends or police detectives, make sure they're on your team for the next escape room.

Replying to Fosh's experiment, one person joked: "James Bond vs. Johnny English."

Another added: "Why would you think there’s any chance you’ll beat the detective😭."

A third said: "I really hope the investigator is paid well to give them tips on how to improve the room for average people. That was actually so awesome seeing how well he did."

Comparing it to those stunts where you put military professionals in paintball competitions, most said that it didn't seem fair, especially considering this guy literally does it for a career.

Oh well, Max, there's always next time.
