Instagram has made some big switch ups in recent weeks, not least being its first logo change in a decade.
The social media platform made the decision to move away from its cursive lettering, with some experts suggesting this could be because Gen Z users couldn’t read the writing.
However, that is not the only thing that is different in the app, because fans are now discovering a game-changing feature that could finally put an end to the obligatory ‘link in bio’ caption.
Instagram users have long been asking for a feature to allow them to add external links into their captions to save them from having to direct people to the bio of their page, and now it looks like it is finally happening.

This was initially noticed by blogger Andrea Valeria, who took to Threads to write: “OMG, Instagram finally gave us the option to add a link in the caption.”
She went on to add: “Look, here it is. It’s the first time I see it & use the feature. Apparently, you can only do it 10 times in one month — according to the message I got when I did it.”
Later, Meta confirmed to Engadget that it is testing out allowing links in captions for people subscribed to Meta Verified, although it is not clear if it will be released to a wider audience at a later date.
Many people have taken to social media themselves to react to the news, with one user writing on Reddit: “Just found a clickable external link in a reel caption. HOW?? I always thought this wasn't possible at all? I'm trying to guess how this creator did it, but so far haven't found the answer.
“It's not an ad or and "edits" app feature. Did a missed an update or something? I don't see an option to add an external link when uploading.”

In response, another said: “You need to subscribe to meta verified. Once you’re verified you get the opportunity to add 2 links to your reels per month.”
To which the original poster replied with: “Oooh you're right. absolutely forgot about that verification subscription. can't wait to pay 50 bucks per month to add 2 links.”
So, while it is exciting news for Instagram users, the release is currently very limited with no word yet on whether this will be made available to all account holders in the near future.
