If you've ever needed a good reason to get an Oura ring then this woman on TikTok might just give you it, as she explains how the wearable health tracker spotted that she had cancer well before she had any idea otherwise.
Health-based smart gadgets have been available for years now, as wearables like the Apple Watch and similar alternatives allow users to track their wellbeing and exercise passively - even during the night.
These devices have allowed users to see the early signs of when they're getting sick, and have even spotted serious sleep conditions that would have otherwise been impossible to recognize.
One of the most popular wearables of this kind is the Oura ring, which allows its users to add a fashionable accessory that blends into any outfit without sacrificing the vital health tracking tech.

If you don't like wearing watches or simply prefer the look or a more low-key ring then Oura might be for you, but perhaps one of the most convincing arguments has arrived after one woman shared on TikTok how her ring spotted a life-threatening disease.
User 'otikkiyousoofine' posted a video explaining how her Oura ring 'knew she had cancer' before she had any idea, as she was alerted to the fact that she had lymphoma through temperature-based alerts.
"I religiously wear my Oura ring," she explains. "I came home from a trip, started having night sweats, was super fatigued, I knew something was wrong but I couldn't figure out exactly what it was so I kinda ignored it.
"But every day my Oura ring, the app would look like this," she explains, pointing to a screenshot of the app showing a 'major signs' warning.
"My readiness score was always like 30s, 40s, no bueno. I remember sending this screenshot to my best friend when this all was happening, and I remember telling her I think something's wrong and I'm scared."
Thankfully it was Oura's detailed breakdowns and advisory warnings that alerted her to the seriousness of the situation, meaning that she took it upon herself to go and see a doctor who then revealed her cancer diagnosis.
"I'm sure I would have figured it out eventually," she explains, "but having this information laid out in front of me definitely made me take it more seriously, because if you're a nurse you know we're not running to the doctor for any little thing."
Time can make all the difference when it comes to things like cancer, and being able to catch it early or have your attention raised can be life changing when dealing with the deadly disease.
Many people in the comments seem to be convinced too, with one user outlining that they "had zero interest in buying an Oura ring until this, this is f***ing incredible. Thank you so much for sharing."
On the flip side, some have expressed how this might make things worse if you lean towards hypochondriasis, as it'd be easy to get wrapped up in constantly checking this data and perhaps thinking too much of it.
"Please don't let my health anxiety peeps find this," argues one commenter, whereas another points out that they "don't know if getting one would help my anxiety or make it worse."
