Apple fans are in disbelief after an app that they have ‘waited 15 years for’ has finally launched on the app store.

While there have been plenty of exciting new updates in recent months to iPhones, including the introduction of Apple Intelligence, it seems that there is one device that has been overlooked.

Many Apple users have been crying out for a particular app to be added to the iPad app store and it looks like their wish has finally been granted.

It’s been a long time coming but WhatsApp is now available to use on the iPad.

Many people have taken to social media to celebrate the news, with one user writing on Reddit: “Zuckerberg finally got his iPad allergy treatment.”

Another said: “Wow. I almost can’t believe it. It’s been YEARSSSS of this coming soon. Now if we can just get better Apple Watch integration. Would love calls showing on the watch.”

And a third person added: “Only took them 15 years. So when is watch app? 2034?”

However, while people are excited about the introduction of the messaging app, there is still another social media platform that people are still waiting to be added to the iPad.

One person pointed this out, writing: “Instagram iPad app when.”

This prompted a reply from another user who added: “Probably some time in the next 20-30 years.”

And another joked: “The technology just isn't there yet.”

Instagram was first launched back in 2010 and while the app boasts a whopping two billion monthly active users, its parent company has long resisted an iPad version.

iPad users can currently only access the photo sharing app by downloading a version designed for iPhones, which isn’t a great experience as the app appears zoomed in on iPad screens.

But that’s not to say rumors of an Instagram app for the iPad haven’t been circulating for years, with murmurs first starting back in 2021.

Adam Mosheri, who is the head of Instagram, said at the time: “I spent a bit of time on an iPad because I was on a flight, but still no iPad app for Instagram.

“It would be nice to do, but there’s a lot to do and only so many people, so it hasn’t made the cut.”

However, a year later, Mosheri said: “It’s still just not a big enough group of people to be a priority. Hoping to get to it at some point, but right now we’re very heads down on other things.”
