Ben Stiller gives raw three-word response to Jimmy Kimmel being axed over Charlie Kirk comments

The movie star has chimed in

Three words have been offered up by movie star Ben Still after news that ABC has suspended Jimmy Kimmel's late night show 'indefinitely', as the host made comments during an opening monologue in reference to Charlie Kirk.

Almost all of American media has been focused on the death of far-right political commentator and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, 31, in the week since he was fatally shot at Utah Valley University last Wednesday.

Names like Elon Musk and other popular political streamers offered their immediate reaction to the shocking death, which was accentuated by extremely graphic footage of the bullet hitting Kirk's neck being spread around social media in the aftermath.

While many have offered their condolences to Kirk's family, others have commented on the ideas he spread when he was alive, including one Hollywood actor who received pushback for a comment she made on Instagram.

Key political figures inside the Trump administration have issued an official warning to anyone who is deemed to be 'celebrating' Kirk's death, with Vice President JD Vance calling for people to be fired and Attorney General Pam Bondi seemingly lining up legal challenges.

By far the biggest individual to be affected by the pushback so far, however, is late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who has more than once before got on the wrong side of key government figures.

In the most recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host made comments in reference to the reaction of the political right to Kirk's death – including that of President Donald Trump – and that resulted in Disney's ABC network suspending him 'indefinitely', with broadcaster Nexstar vowing not to air Kimmel's show on its TV stations.

Many people online have spoken up and slammed the network for reacting like this to Kimmel's comments, including one rather controversial comedian, and now another major figure has offered his own raw three-word response to the situation.

Quoting a post that revealed Kimmel's suspension, actor Ben Stiller simply yet effectively wrote: "This isn't right."

He's far from the only popular figure to echo similar comments, as Hacks star Jean Smart also wrote on Instagram: "I am horrified at the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel Live. What Jimmy said was FREE speech, not hate speech. People seem to only want to protect free speech when it suits THEIR agenda."

Many in the replies to Stiller's post on X offer similar assertions too, with people proclaiming that freedom of speech doesn't exist anymore, and that "cancel culture is back," despite the political right in America's apparent desire to bin it off.

"And where is the 'can't do comedy without getting cancelled' crew," questions one commenter on Reddit in response to Stiller's remark. "Crickets from the Joe Rogans of the world so far."
