Hacking group anonymous issue statement after Jimmy Kimmel is axed over Charlie Kirk comments

The comedian criticised President Trump in his monologue

Hacking group Anonymous weighs in on the Jimmy Kimmel controversy.

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel has officially been pulled from his show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' and the fallout is spreading across social media like wildfire.

The controversy comes after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot dead while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University on 10 September.

22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been arrested for the killing, and the FBI is still investigating a Discord group chat linked to him.

In the middle of all this, Kimmel criticised Donald Trump in his monologue, mocking the way the US President reacted to Kirk’s death.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid [Robinson] who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it," Kimmel declared.

The late-night host then showed a clip of Trump saying he was holding up 'very good' before pointing to the construction of the 'new ballroom' for the White House.

"This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, okay? And it didn't just happen once," Kimmel added.

ABC responded by suspending Kimmel from the network 'indefinitely', a move that Trump described as 'good news for America.'

Now, the hacking group Anonymous posted their take on the situation through their X account. Anonymous is known for reportedly coordinating online protests and cyber attacks against targets they view as corrupt or oppressive.

The post read: "So Kimmel is taken off the air for showing a clip of Trump not giving a s*** about Charlie Kirk and calling it for what it is. Gotcha".

The hacking collective backed up their statement by sharing the full clip that apparently got Kimmel in trouble, which quickly drew reactions from users.

"Jimmy has the right to say whatever he wants, but that doesn’t mean he’s free from the consequences of saying what he wants. Hope this helps…" one user wrote.

"Kimmel was calling out Trump for not respecting Kirk. Opposite of what he is accused of," another replied, while someone else admitted: "Bro, America is cooked".

Others pushed back against the hacking group's interpretation of events.

"I think it’s more about him spreading lies," one commenter wrote.

Another added: "Well, that is 100% opposite of the Truth so there is that," while a sixth user called out: "That’s not what got him fired, it was lying about the killer being maga that got him fired."
