We’ve all wondered what a message said when we spot that we’ve received a now-deleted text message.

Well now we might be able to uncover the truth after a tech expert has shared an insane hack that lets you read deleted WhatsApp messages.

An expert on TikTok, known as @tatechtips, explained just how to access it.

In the video, he said: “You wanna read a deleted WhatsApp message? Let me refresh your memory.”

The TikToker then went on to say that in order to read the deleted texts, you’ll first need to go into your settings and select notifications.

From there you’ll want to scroll down until you find the advanced settings.

In advanced settings, you’ll be able to click on notification history and make sure the feature is switched on.

The video continues: “Just like that. I've just received a WhatsApp message there, but when I open the message, it's been deleted. But I've got notification history turned on.

“So then back in my notification history, I can see the original message before it was deleted.”

Viewers of the video took to the TikTok comment section to share their reactions to the handy trick.

One user wrote: “Been using this for quite a while I kept missing deals that apps would send because they would disappear, had to figure it out myself, glad I did. It's a great feature.”

Another said: “Not telling anyone about this.”

And a third person added: “You are amazing...am like now learning new stuff to my phone.”

However, not everyone is a fan of the nifty hack, with some people warning against using it.

One person said: “Sometimes it's not good to be too nosy. You might not like what you see.”

And another added: “Sometimes just leave it deleted you might have a heart attack if u read a deleted message.”

The TikToker is no stranger to offering up handy tips and tricks for your smartphone.

He previously revealed the four characters you need to dial into your phone to get a secret hidden menu.

The trick will only work on Android devices but it turns out that inputting a series of characters into the phone will open up a concealed diagnostics menu.

From there, you’ll be able to choose from different options to look at how specific parts of your device are operating.

You can check things like your front camera, speaker and can also make sure the colors on your screen are working correctly.
