Ahmed al-Doush faces 10 years in prison after being arrested by Saudi Arabian officials just before he was scheduled to fly back home to the United Kingdom.

Now, his wife has spoken out following the shocking treatment her husband has been subjected to.

Al-Doush, his wife Amaher, and their four children were just about to fly back home before the British dad and Bank of America senior business analyst was mysteriously apprehended by Saudi Officials.

He had advised his wife to fly on to Turkey - their journey's connecting airport - without him, indicating that he would be with them shortly, yet months later Al-Doush still remains in custody and could face a sentence of up to 10 years, and with no concrete reasoning as to why.

He has been afforded extremely minimal contact with his family and lawyer since being detained, and it has been suggested that his arrest is linked to a previously deleted tweet from 2018 regarding the situation in Sudan, despite the fact that Ahmed only has 37 followers on the social media platform.

Additionally, he also faces accusations of association with one exiled Saudi critic, although his family claim there is no connection outside of knowing the individual's son.

Al-Doush's arrest has been strongly condemned by human rights organization Amnesty International, who call for the Saudi government to 'immediately and unconditionally' release him from custody and return him to his family, adding that the country has breached his fair trial rights.

Ahmed's wife Amaher has now spoken out in an official statement, as reported by the Mirror, outlining her anger, frustration, and concern surrounding her husband's situation.

"To the UK Government Ahmed is just another statistic on a long list of British citizens detailed abroad. To me and my kids he is everything," Amaher explains.

"That's why the news yesterday that Ahmed was sentenced to 10 years in a Saudi Arabian jail is heartbreaking, even more so that we don't know why. The nightmare my family has endured for the past eight months continues into a never-ending abyss, exacerbated by the last of clear information provided to by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO)."

One major consequence of Ahmed's arrest is that he has now missed the birth of his family's fifth child, as Amaher was pregnant at the point at which he was detained in Saudi Arabia. His wife also illustrates the back and thyroid issues her husband was experiencing prior to his arrest, and that will likely have become more aggressive since.

"He should be at home surrounded by his loved ones, not in an overcrowded cell surrounded by second-hand cigarette smoke," Amaher al-Doush continued. "Yesterday it became clear how badly the UK Government has failed me and my husband."

She has continued to put pressure on the government to aid her and her husband in the horrible circumstances that they are facing, but it appears as if nothing much is actually happening.

"The judgement needs to be a wake-up call for the Foreign Secretary to act. Our children need their father. He has done nothing wrong," Amaher pleads.
