A recent press conference held at the White House between the US government and many of the nation's biggest oil companies saw everyone witness a number of rather alarming blunders from President Donald Trump, with one revealing a private note handed to him by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Most of the presidents across American history have been on the older side of things as it takes a long career to build the experience necessary to lead the nation, yet Donald Trump is a rather exceptional case, being officially the oldest president ever inaugurated for his current term.
This has raised some health concerns for many, especially as the White House has been coy regarding recent medical examinations and alarming bruises on the president's hand, and his actions a recent press conference certainly haven't helped quash concerns.

As reported by the Huffington Post, Trump and other key officials gathered major oil executives from companies like Chevron and Exxon to the White House on Friday, January 9, to discuss the investment of billions of dollars into Venezuelan oil production.

While the topic itself and its relationship to the ongoing invasion of the South American nation is newsworthy enough as it is, Trump's actions within the press conference appeared to distract from the topic at hand as he appeared to be behaving in a strange manner.
It's not exactly unusual for someone leading a press conference to receive information or guidance from others while they are talking, yet Trump decided to share exactly what was written on a private note handed to him by Rubio in an embarrassing moment for all involved.

Rubio certainly wasn't subtle in shoving the piece of paper over to the president face down, but Trump was quick to make everyone aware that he had been handed the note and decided to read it aloud as he himself was taking in the information.
"Marco just gave me a note, 'Go back to Chevron'," he declared carelessly, "they want to discuss something, go ahead I'm going back to Chevron."
Rubio immediately started to laugh when Trump began reading – perhaps split between embarrassment and sheer shock that the note was being read out loud, and the president soon joined in before thanking the Secretary of State for his advice.

"This is the funniest s*** I've seen in days," wrote one comment on YouTube, with another noting that "technically this DOES count as 'transparency'..."
Others suggested that someone should edit over the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme for maximum comedic effect, whereas a third commenter had their own scathing assessment of the president's actions.
"What an imbecile! He just blurts out without thinking," they wrote. "No decorum, no professionalism, a child-like behavior!"

This isn't the first time that Rubio has directed Trump's attention using a note either, as some might remember a conference back in October 2025 where the Secretary of State handed him a piece of paper regarding a 'Middle East deal', noting that it was "very close. We need you to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first."
