Climate scientists sound alarm as they slam Trump's plans to end limits on power plant greenhouse gas emissions

This latest move has left many experts terrified for the future

A major alarm has been sounded by climate scientists following Donald Trump's latest move, as the president plans to remove limits placed on greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.

Talk to any climate change expert and they'll make it abundantly clear that the biggest threat to Earth's future is fossil fuels, as the greenhouse gases produced by the burning of these fuels is the most prominent contributor to global warming.

Scientists have already issued chilling predictions of entire cities going underwater as a consequence of rising sea-levels, which is predominately a consequence of rapid climate change.

With the increased power demands of AI technology - so much so that some companies are illegally increasing their output - it's only a matter of time before Earth reaches a climate 'tipping point' that will be impossible to return from, and President Trump's latest political action only seems to be accelerating that.

What is Trump planning with the EPA?

President Trump, alongside the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is drafting a new plan that would lift the regulation placed on fossil fuel-burning power plants that limits the amount of greenhouse gas emissions they can produce, as reported by the Independent.

These rules were introduced in the latter stages of Joe Biden's administration in an attempt to slow down the worrying effects of global warming, yet Trump has seemingly made it a priority to reverse it already.

In support of the new plans, the EPA has claimed that greenhouse gases "do not contribute significantly to dangerous pollution," and that this move will "provide all Americans with access to reliable and affordable energy."

Understandably this has warranted significant opposition from climate experts and activists, who claim that the move is 'deeply concerning' and could have significant, irreversible ramifications for Earth's future.

Why are climate experts worried about lifting greenhouse gas emission limits?

According to Vickie Patton, general counsel for the Environmental Defense Fund, fossil fuels are the "singe largest industrial source of climate destabilizing carbon dioxide in the U.S.," and thus any move that would allow power plants to go full throttle on producing emissions would cause significant harm.

Despite experimental plans to slow the effects of global warming by blocking out the Sun, most scientists agree that nothing meaningful will be achieved if the world doesn't tackle the root problem of fossil fuels.

America currently sits behind only China when it comes to global emissions, and the latter nation has already outlined significant green energy plans including a 'Solar Great Wall' that would help it move away from its currently harmful power production.

With this move, however, the United States is moving in the wrong direction that would counteract the positive and future-thinking efforts by climate experts, and potentially welcome a wide variety of horrifying consequences that even include the spread of a deadly fungus.
