After Karoline Leavitt stepped down as the Press Secretary for President Donald Trump, a new political commentator has taken over the role but concerns are now being raised over her internet history.
Katie Zacharia officially became the US leader’s new Press Secretary on Monday (October 12) after Leavitt stepped down from the position in August.
Announcing her departure on X, formerly Twitter, Leavitt said: “Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least.
“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary - and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”

Making the announcement on his own social media platform Trump Social, Trump wrote: “I am pleased to announce that Katie Zacharia will be beginning her term as Press Secretary tomorrow, Columbus Day, and will be doing an introductory News Conference on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. from the Press Briefing Room in the White House. Katie has been with me, in spirit, from the very beginning, and will do a fantastic job! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Concerns raised over Trump’s new Press Secretary’s deleted tweets
However, since then, reports about Zacharia’s alleged internet history have now surfaced after an investigation into her posts, including deleted tweets, with CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski writing: “President Donald Trump’s incoming White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, repeatedly made baseless accusations of pedophilia against prominent Democrats and shared conspiracy-related content, including claims that echoed the debunked "Pizzagate" theory and that Hollywood elites were pedophilic cannibals, according to a CNN KFile review of her social media posts.

“The posts, many from 2022, reveal a history of inflammatory rhetoric and conspiracy-related content from a woman now poised to become one of the administration’s most visible spokespeople.”
Kaczynski’s report went on to say that the new Press Secretary had ‘also promoted on Truth Social a repost that claimed that comedian Joan Rivers died mysteriously after saying that former President Barack Obama was gay and that former first lady Michelle Obama had a penis’.
Zacharia held her first press briefing yesterday (October 13), with the short question and answer conference lasting just 14 minutes.
The new Press Secretary took questions from only three media outlets, with Zacharia spending much of the appearance making prepared remarks praising Trump’s record before abruptly ending the session, saying reporters could ask the president questions as he departed for Alaska.
