President Donald Trump has been labelled as a ‘clueless buffoon’ following his latest remarks on Vladimir Putin.
The US president took to his own social media platform Truth Social to comment on the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Trump had previously promised to end the war on the first day of his second term but later claimed that the remark had been said in ‘jest’.

On Sunday (May 25), the president publicly spoke out about his thoughts on the war, writing: “I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!
“He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever.
“I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!”

Trump went on to take a swipe at Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, adding that ‘everything out of his mouth causes problems’ and ‘it better stop’.
Trump continued: “This is a War that would never have started if I were President. This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not ‘Trump’s,’ I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires, that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred.”
After the president spoke to reporters in New Jersey, telling them that he was ‘surprised’ by the actions of Putin, many people have taken to social media themselves to share their own reactions.

And a fourth added that Trump’s surprise is ‘simply reflective of someone who is a very bad judge of character’.

Kira Rudik, who is the leader of the Ukrainian opposition party Holos, spoke to the Independent, saying that Trump’s efforts to bring about peace in Ukraine ‘have led nowhere’.
She continued: “We hope that it will be possible for him to acknowledge the reality and move forward towards peace in an effective way.”
Zelensky has also spoken out to say: “We are ready to meet at the level of leaders. The American side knows this, and the Russian side knows this. We are ready for the ‘Trump, Putin, and me’ format, and we are ready for the Trump-Putin, Trump-Zelensky format, and then the three of us.”
