With the focus of newly released smartphones being on cutting-edge technology and more advanced capabilities including artificial intelligence, the trade-off is often the device’s battery life.

However, this isn’t the case for one new smartphone entering the market, which is purported to outperform even the battery of a Tesla vehicle.

This comes as the new Magic V6 has been unveiled by Chinese phone maker HONOR, with its ‘flagship foldable innovation’.

The device has an ultra-thin closed profile at 8.75mm - making it the world’s thinnest foldable phone - and is engineered for long-term reliability.

Showcasing at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, the smartphone comes with some incredible features, including a longer battery life.

With the phone being so thin, you might be surprised to find out it is jam-packed with a massive battery - a 6660mAh one to be precise.

This currently makes it the biggest battery available in a foldable phone in the industry.

In fact, the silicon-carbon Blade Battery is so powerful that its energy density of 921 Wh/L surpasses that of a Tesla battery, which is around 643 to 750 Wh/L.

The device comes with a 6.52-inch external display and, when unfolded, a 7.95-inch screen, which is all powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

HONOR’s futuristic ‘Robot’ Phone appears at MWC

The Magic V6 isn’t the only exciting new product on display at MWC as the tech firm’s new ‘Robot’ Phone is also creating a buzz.

With a gimbal camera, the company’s concept videos give the impression of a sentient robot companion not unlike Disney Pixar’s Wall-E - except this one fits into your pocket.

While the extent of the Robot Phone’s capabilities is still yet to be disclosed, it has been revealed that the robot can interact with its user including expressive nods and head shakes, and even having a little boogie to music.

The device has a 200MP sensor and a stabilized gimbal camera system which HONOR says will assist users with capturing moments.

It boasts stabilization, intelligent tracking and cinematic-style camera movement.

And while the concept of the Robot Phone still feels a bit too sci-fi to be real, a major update from the company might mean the reality of the device could be here much sooner than you might think.

That’s because it has been confirmed that the smartphone will be in the hands of consumers this year, with a release window given for the second half of 2026.
