While a humanoid robot rocking up to a tech launch event might have made people marvel in the past, with the likes of Tesla’s Optimus bot already in the works, it’s pretty hard to impress people these days.
However, one phone company shocked attendees of its recent launch event ahead of this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, as it unveiled its first humanoid bot.
Chinese phone maker HONOR revealed the robot alongside its highly anticipated ‘Robot’ Phone.
So, what can the humanoid robot do? Well, so far the specs are unclear but one thing we do know is that it knows how to boogie.

Appearing on the HONOR stage, the bot was joined by live dancers where it led a choreographed routine without so much of a stumble.
To make things even cooler, it later executed a back flip - sick.

Of course, it’s not known whether these acts were autonomous or if the robot was being controlled by a human, but the engineering behind the bot is still very impressive.
It hasn’t been revealed yet when this product will be made available to buy but the humanoid robot was later joined onstage by the Robot Phone, and HONOR has an important update on this device.
Update on the release of the Robot Phone
This product has created a buzz with its robotic gimbal camera that HONOR promises can offer users a human-like interaction.
Being dubbed as a ‘new species of smartphone’, the extent of its capabilities is still a mystery but, according to the firm, this phone won’t just react through screens and voice commands like other AI assistants.
Instead, it will have a brain - well, figuratively at least - in order to give its users a more human-like and expressive interaction.
The Robot Phone comes with an ultra-compact 4DoF gimbal system which enables robot-grade embodied motion control and supports a three-axis gimbal stabilization system.

The device is able to react in real-time with its AI Object Tracking and has AI SpinShot to support intelligent 90 degree and 180 degree rotational movement.
It’s very cute too, with the concept videos giving the impression that it will be like something out of the Disney Pixar movie Wall-E.
The device has a 200MP sensor and a stabilized gimbal camera system which HONOR says will assist users with capturing moments.
It boasts stabilization, intelligent tracking and cinematic-style camera movement.
And while the concept of the Robot Phone still feels a bit too sci-fi to be real, a major update from the company confirms it will be in the hands of consumers this year, with a release window given for the second half of 2026.
