It's the #1 podcast in the USA and widely considered the most listened to podcast in the world, but when it comes to accepting awards, it turns out Joe Rogan has turned his nose up at the Golden Globes.
The stars of Hollywood gathered on the red carpet of the 83rd Golden Globes at The Beverly Hilton in California, with a glitzy event seeing the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Rhea Seehorn, One Battle After Another, and Adolescence become just a few of the night's big winners.
There was some political discord as the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Natasha Lyonne, and Ariana Grande wore "Be Good" pins in honor of the late Renée Nicole Good, but apart from host Nikki Glaser joking about the government's handling of the Epstein files, it was all a pretty normal affair.
Still, the Golden Globes decided to move with the times and introduce the category of Best Podcast for the first time. The bizarre moment saw Snoop Dogg take to the stage to announce the winner, with Amy Poehler winning for Good Hang with Amy Poehler.

The inaugural recipient was chosen from a list of 25 podcasts "that have made a significant impact over the past year, celebrating the creativity and influence of creators worldwide."
While the Golden Globes are no stranger to political strife, there was a notable gap of right-wing podcasters who made the final cut. Vanity Fair claimed that they were purposefully excluded, and despite Ben Shapiro splashing the cash on an expansive FYC campaign, he was left out in the cold alongside the likes of Candace Owens and Joe Rogan.
This left NPR’s Up First news podcast as the only 'political' one, as the nominees were largely filled out by celebrity podcasts from Alex Cooper and Dax Shepard.
Variety has put a different spin on things, stating that Rogan's The Joe Rogan Experience didn't scoop the award or even get a nomination for a different reason.
According to the outlet, The Joe Rogan Experience didn't make the Golden Globes shortlist because he refused to pay a $500 submission fee.
When speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, Rogan explained why he didn't want to be a part of 'that', firing shots at the famed awards ceremony: "A lot of people say, ‘Why wasn’t Joe Rogan nominated for the Golden Globes? Why did Amy Poehler win?’ I didn’t submit.
"They asked me to submit to be nominated for the Golden Globes and you had to pay $500. And the $500 is like for paperwork or whatever. I said, ‘No.'"
Rogan remained tactful when discussing Poehler's podcast, adding: "I’m sure it’s good. It won. I’m sure someone must love it. If it sucked, they would give it to someone else, right?”
"I just know that Amy Poehler won and a lot of people are upset. ‘She’s had a podcast for six months and she won. Great, you gave it to a famous person.’ Which, you know, in that world that’s what they do."
Ending with something of a barb, Rogan concluded: "I just know that I didn’t submit. I don’t want to be a part of that. I don’t care. You’re just a group of people that just decide, all of a sudden, that you’re going to give an award out? ‘I get a trophy’? F**k off!”
Oh well, there's always next year.
