The streaming world feels like it used to be a lot simpler, and while we're not complaining about the recent renaissance of Oscar-worthy TV shows, those waits between seasons only seem to be getting worse.
After all, it's mad that it's taken nearly a decade to deliver five seasons of Stranger Things when we got 11 seasons of The Walking Dead in 12 years.
Even though we're not complaining about the stellar quality of shows Apple releases, it's not got the best track record when it comes to releasing shows on an annual basis.
As we saw with the achingly long wait ahead of Severance season 2, you can't rush art. This is sadly the same story for Pluribus, as Vince Gilligan's sci-fi spectacle has left us with a frustrating amount of answers as we head into season 2.

The real problem is that season 2 is likely a looooong way away.
Given that Gilligan is known for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and both are considered two of the best shows of all time, Pluribus was always going to generate plenty of interest. Having broken a record previously held by Severance, season 1's nine-episode run thankfully lives up to the hype.

Rhea Seehorn stole the show as the grouchy Carol Sturka, and with awards galore surely on the horizon, fans are excited about where things go in the already confirmed season 2. Gilligan has confirmed he has grand plans for a potential three-season arc, and although we were already warned that season 2's release is likely a way off, Gilligan is here to hammer it home.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gilligan gave us the update we all feared. The show's creator confirmed that progress is slow, telling the outlet: "We’re working on it. It takes us a while. I would love to go faster if I could.”
This was echoed by executive producer Gordon Smith, who added: "You know how on a timeline, there's usually an arrow that points towards infinity? Well, I think we're on the arrow somewhere.”
While Pluribus has been smashing records and has become Apple's most-watched show, that doesn't mean Gilligan is going to be rushing things just to satisfy our hunger for more.
Expanding on where Pluribus is at, Gilligan continued: "As much as I am so grateful for the fans digging this show, we’ve always found our best way to proceed is to be in our bunker creating this thing and not pay too much attention to reactions of any sort, positive or negative.
"We’re kind of the first fans of this show, the first viewers of the show, and we kinda try to make ourselves happy.”
Despite all of the series' success, it doesn't sound like Gilligan is letting it go to his head. Giving us a peek behind the curtain at how his mind works, the creator concluded: "The way to tell a story is to keep doing it the way you did it back before you had an audience. That has always worked best for us."
Still, with the likes of Severance season 3, two more seasons of Silo, and the long-awaitedTed Lasso season 4, Apple has plenty of other shows to keep us busy while we wait for Carol's eventual return.
