Google has revealed the sheer number of searches it gets every single year and the results are ‘staggering’.

The tech giant shared a huge increase in the searches it receives annually, reporting a whopping 416 billion searches every month.

Google is considered to be the most popular search engine in the world, dominating nearly 92% of the market, so it’s no surprise that their numbers are colossal.

Reporting on its annual figures, a blog on the Google website written by Vidhya Srinivasan, who is the vice president and general manager of Ads and Commerce at Google, read: “On Search, rich and multimodal experiences like AI Overviewers, Circle to Search, and Lens give people new ways to express exactly what they want, more naturally than ever before.

“We already see more than five trillion searches on Google annually, and with AI, we’re continuing to expand the types of questions that people can ask.

“This means more opportunities for you to connect with consumers through entirely new kinds of questions. For example, with the launch of AI Overviews, the volume of commercial queries has increased.”

Back in 2016, Google shared that it had received two trillion searches, meaning that in the last nine years, that figure has increased by two and a half times the amount.

But that isn’t the only advancement made by the tech giant, after it shared the work the firm has done in artificially intelligent technology.

Srinivasan went on to say: “We’ve made incredible advances in AI, and this same powerful technology can transform advertising and shopping. As an engineer and the lead for our Ads and Commerce products, I’m inspired by how this technology is already better connecting people and businesses.

“In the last year, we’ve explored new applications of generative AI across our products — from improving image generation to better curating the products people see. We’ve also been seamlessly integrating AI into our campaign tools and simplifying data management to help you get the most from them.

“But there’s more we can do. I see vast opportunities to help businesses create relevant, interactive and beautiful content that feels tailor-made for each person’s interests.”

While the blog did point out that consumer behavior is ‘predictably unpredictable’, it noted that the advances in AI are ‘unlocking new ways for businesses to reach people with engaging experiences on Google and YouTube, where discoveries and decisions are made every day’.
