Warning: May contain descriptions that some people find disturbing

More details are coming out about the murder of Charlie Kirk, with the controversial political commentator shot dead at the age of 31. Kirk was in the midst of his American Comeback Tour, and despite some strong opposition to his appearance at the Utah Valley University campus, he spoke to a crowd of some 3,000.

As Kirk tried to move past the negativity surrounding his divisive views, he was shot through the neck by a single bullet while in the middle of answering a question on gun violence.

President Donald Trump soon confirmed Kirk's passing, leading to an outpouring of support from Elon Musk, Jake Paul, Vice President JD Vance, Chris Pratt, and more.

While South Carolina's Nancy Mace has laid the blame firmly at the door of the Democrats, Jimmy Kimmel said we should avoid angry finger-pointing and mourn yet more 'senseless gun violence'.

There's still much confusion about what exactly happened, which has only been exacerbated by innocent people being incorrectly identified as the shooter, viral footage appearing to show security missing a gunman atop a roof ahead of the incident, and the FBI admitting that two suspects who were arrested in connection with the shooting have now been released.

Eyewitness reports recall hearing a single shot before panic ensued. Although no one else was injured in the fracas, it's said that 'fountains' of blood were seen spurting from Kirk's neck.

Now, emergency dispatch audio shared by the New York Post reveals those chilling moments following the attack. A female dispatcher reports that "one individual that was shot," adding that it's "unknown where the shooter went."

Saying they've received multiple calls from the Charlie Kirk event at UVU in Orem, we later hear a description of the person alleged to be the shooter. The audio states: "He's wearing jeans, black shirt, black mask, long rifle."

Elsewhere, there's mention of a blue Honda Odyssey with no plates, although it's unclear whether the suspect is being linked to the vehicle or where it went next. Away from a 71-year-old man being arrested at the scene, the Utah Department of Public Safety has said the shooter "appears to be of college age" and "blended in well with the college institution."

After climbing stairwells to a vantage point said to be on the campus' Losee Center, it’s said they took their shot then "moved to the other side of the building, jumped off of the building and fled off of the campus into a neighbourhood."

There are reportedly images of the shooter, although authorities will only release them if they're unsuccessful in tracking him down and need help from the general public.

The latest update concludes that the firearm supposedly used in Kirk's assassination has been found in a nearby wooded area. Alongside a 'high-powered bolt action rifle', investigators have apparently found a "footwear impression, a palm print and forearm imprints." A search for the perpetrator continues.
