President Donald Trump has confirmed the death of Charlie Kirk, with the controversial political commentator being shot when giving a talk at Utah Valley University on September 10.
While standing under a white gazebo and addressing a crowd of around 3,000 people, Kirk appeared to be hit with a single shot from a vantage point. Eyewitnesses at the scene recall seeing a 'fountain of blood' gushing from his neck as he raised his arm. Kirk's wife and family were also at the scene but reported safe, with no other injuries being recorded.
Footage captures Kirk's final moments, including his last words. When asked, "Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?", Kirk responded, "Counting or not counting gang violence?"

Although it was originally thought that Kirk was rushed from the scene and was receiving medical care, President Donald Trump later confirmed his death.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox has referred to it as a 'political assassination', while the likes of Elon Musk and President Trump have also spoken out. The POTUS referred to it as a "dark moment for America."
A slew of videos have been doing the rounds on social media, including one that some are saying shows the killer fleeing the scene on top of a roof.

Although it takes some zooming in, it looks like someone can be seen running to the left as people in the crowd duck and others run for cover.
Analyzing the footage, Brian Allen of Allenanalysis suggests it was tactical: "Elevated position. Long-range precision. Clean getaway. That’s not a lone crazy; that’s a trained hand."
He goes on to add: "He ran off the roof and vanished. No traffic stop. No bystander footage. No perimeter breach. Just gone."
Speaking to The New York Times, a Utah Valley University spokeswoman claimed that the shooter fired from a central building that houses a welcome center.

Another video claims to have been taken before Kirk's shooting and could show the shooter from another angle.
With the clip supposedly taken on the path that leads to the Losee Center where the shots apparently came from, a male recording the video states: "So there's somebody on the roof right there."
"Just ran from, over, from over there, ran in."

It's unclear whether this second video is even a person, although the location is consistent with where Kirk was seemingly shot from. Law enforcement officials are now combing through CCTV footage, but aside from a vague description that the shooter was "dressed in dark clothing," there doesn't seem to be much to go on.
A manhunt is now on for the shooter, but it's said that hopes of a quick end to the story are fading. FBI Director Kash Patel took to X and confirmed that authorities had released a central subject who'd been arrested as part of a multiagency manhunt. Saying the investigation 'continues', Patel admitted: "The subject in custody has been released after an interrogation by law enforcement."
Despite a deluge of footage from the scene, the mystery killer of Charlie Kirk remains at large.
